Ipswich boss Paul Jewell denies Maurice Edu offer

Ipswich Town manager Paul Jewell has denied making an offer for Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu.

The 26-year-old US international wants to leave Ibrox and Rangers boss Ally McCoist claimed on Monday that Ipswich wanted to sign him.

Jewell has admitted he is looking to add three players to his squad but told BBC Radio Suffolk: "I don't know what the story is with Maurice Edu.

"It's been reported that we've made him an offer - that isn't true."

Speaking following Ipswich's 1-0 win at Watford on Tuesday evening , Jewell continued: "There's speculation linking us with a number of players.

"I'm not prepared to talk about speculation but we are in the market for players and we know we have to improve."

Edu joined Rangers from Toronto in 2008 and has three Scottish Premier League winners' medals.

It appears there has also been interest in him from the Premier League.

"We hear from his agent that there is a potential deal to be done with Stoke," McCoist said on Tuesday.
