Ali Crawford's extra-time goal gave Hamilton Accies a Scottish Communities League Cup second-round victory over Partick Thistle.

With the score locked at 0-0 after 90 minutes, Crawford fired in an unstoppable effort from 35 yards after 17 minutes of the additional period.

Thistle's Chris Erskine and Kris Doolan both tested Accies keeper Kevin Cuthbert in normal time.

And James Keatings and Crawford shot off target for the hosts.

Accies had Cuthbert to thank for a string of saves that kept the First Division leaders at bay.

However, Keatings thought he had won it for Hamilton in stoppage time, only for his 20-yard effort to drift wide and lead to that additional 30 minutes.

Crawford's moment of brilliance with 107 minutes on the clock that decided the tie between the Division One rivals.

It sent Hamilton through to the third round and ended Thistle's unbeaten run this season.
