Southend United sign Britt Assombalonga and John Spicer
Southend have completed a double signing with the arrivals of striker Britt Assombalonga and midfielder John Spicer ahead of the new season.
Watford's Assombalonga, 19, arrives on a one-month loan deal and trialist Spicer has signed a one-year deal.
Central midfielder Spicer, 28, has spent the past four weeks on trial with the Blues in a bid to win a contract.
The ex-Notts County, Burnley and Bournemouth player played in several pre-season friendlies for Southend.
Spicer has made 222 career appearances, scoring 18 goals.
