Scott Sinclair tells Swansea he will not sign a new deal
Swansea winger Scott Sinclair is refusing to sign a new contract at the Liberty Stadium.
The 23-year-old's current deal runs out at the end of the season and he is being linked with a move to Manchester City.
The Team GB player has informed Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins of his decision.
"I have spoken to Scott and he confirmed what he said to the chairman, that he won't sign a new contract," said manager Michael Laudrup.
"But he is here now and that's what important for me."
Sinclair in numbers
- Chelsea 14 appearances - one goal
- Plymouth (loan) 18 games - four goals
- QPR (loan) nine games - one goal
- Charlton (loan) three appearances
- Crystal Palace (loan) eight games - two goals
- Birmingham (loan) 14 games
- Wigan (loan) 22 games - two goals
- Swansea 91 games - 36 goals
Sinclair came on a substitute and scored Swansea's fifth goal in their 5-0 victory at QPR on Saturday.
Laudrup accepts he may lose Sinclair before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
"You never know what will happen tomorrow or the day after but there is no point arguing about it, we have to get on with it," said Laudrup. "Until 31 August anything can happen.
"Of course there is interest from a big club in Scott.
The Swans have also completed the signing of Arsenal's 21-year-old defender Kyle Bartley on a three-year deal.

OK - goodbye then Scott. You have done well for us, erratic and absent at times but well, but I think you will struggle elsewhere. Swansea will replace you with someone better and like other players who have left you will realize that Swansea is bigger than any player and has an ethos that makes players perform better than they probably are. NB Managers too.

It's a shame. He'll be tempted away by a bigger salary, like Gylfi, Allen, and Rodgers, but like those three I can see him disappointing outside the Liberty.
Sinclair really has struggled to score in the Premier League, most of his goals were penalties, and that form at a team like Man City will see him stop playing and instead warming the bench, rather than maturing into a much better player.

I think Sinclair has been a good servant for Swansea and he would be better off staying there for another couple of seasons.
RJC - you are right lack of first team football is what it will be. He is not good enough to get in the city team at this moment in time

In relation to my previous post, lack of 1st team football is where I believe Sinclair would suffer, not breaking into the England squad, yet
