Preston North End sign Chris Beardsley and Joel Byrom

Preston North End boss Graham Westley has signed his former Stevenage duo Chris Beardsley and Joel Byrom.

Striker Beardsley, 28, and midfielder Byrom, 25, both left Boro in the summer and had been training with Westley's Lilywhites all summer.

The deals had been held up while the club waited for confirmation from the Football League in accordance to new financial fair play rules. 

Preston have not disclosed details about the length of the contracts.

Both players could make their debut in Monday's Capital One Cup tie against Championship side Huddersfield.
