AFC Telford secured their first win of the season with a comfortable victory over Braintree.

James Spray got on the end of Steve Leslie's cross to put the Bucks ahead before Kieron St Aimie converted another Leslie centre soon afterwards.

Kenny Davis's long-range shot flew wide for the visitors, who struggled to create a meaningful chance.

Nathan Rooney wrapped up the win from the penalty spot after Ryan Peters was penalised for handball.

The 3-0 scoreline was Telford's biggest winning margin in the Blue Square Bet Premier since they were promoted in 2011.

AFC Telford manager Andy Sinton told BBC Radio Shropshire:

"We did really well with some of our football.

"We have two people in wide areas who know how to put the ball in, we have two centre forwards who are really hungry.

"Some of our (recently-signed) players are lacking minutes, lacking games, but we looked good and there's more to come."

Braintree Town manager Alan Devonshire told BBC Essex:

"I'll always defend my players but that's the poorest we've played since I've been at this club - we were second best in everything and they got crosses in at will.

"We just didn't compete and it's baffling.

"I kept the same side because they did so well on Tuesday - I'd love to know what was in their heads because we did not perform.

"There's been some harsh words, I've told them exactly what I thought. I'll have a chat with them all individually and then we'll move on."
