Dartford boss Tony Burman targets Conference survival

Dartford manager Tony Burman wants his club to establish itself in Blue Square Bet Premier this season.

The Kent side have won three promotions in five years, culminating in their Blue Square Bet South play-off final victory last season.

Burman told BBC Radio Kent: "Our target is to be established in this league and it's going to be very, very tough.

"Managers want to get 50 points. It would be nice to get a good start but the season acts in strange ways."

He added: "We're going in there with a fresh approach, to get as many points as possible and enjoy the season."

The Darts are back in the top tier of the non-league pyramid for the first time in 26 years, but Burman says the ultimate goal would be to move into the Football League.

"It's a fantastic achievement by everybody involved in the club, on and off the field," he said.

"We've got into the Conference and the aim now, maybe in five to ten years time, is to go and be a League club.

"We've achieved our ambition to get in the Conference but our targets have got to be higher."
