Brad Quinton grabbed a late equaliser as Braintree Town battled back from 2-0 down to deny 10-man Blue Square Bet Premier newcomers Hyde.

Scott Spencer fired in the away side's opener and added a second from the penalty spot after a Ryan Peters foul.

But the hosts hit back after Hyde had Andy Pearson sent off for violent conduct during the half-time interval.

Kaine Sheppard's header made it 2-1 and Quinton volleyed in the leveller with one second of normal time left.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Braintree manager Alan Devonshire told BBC Essex:

Devonshire looks for new striker

"Well, we're a point better off than last year when we played Darlington and lost 1-0.

"We didn't play well, we know that, but after being 2-0 down, I'll take a point.

"You've got to be patient and if a goal comes in the 89th, 90th minute, that's something we had against us last year.

"We got a point and we move on."
