Steven Pienaar returns to Everton from Tottenham for £4.5m
Steven Pienaar has completed a £4.5m move back to Everton, 18 months after joining Tottenham for a reported £3m.
The South African midfielder, 30, has signed a four-year deal after returning to Goodison on loan in January.
Pienaar's curler against Sunderland
"It took a few weeks to sort out but I am delighted to be back and excited to play for Everton," Pienaar said.
"There was no doubt in my mind that I would be back here. At the end of the season I told the manager how I felt and I am happy now it is all done."
Pienaar started just five Premier League matches for Spurs before moving back to Everton and playing 14 top flight games.
Everton manager David Moyes moved to bolster his attacking options after Tim Cahill joined New York Red Bulls last week.
Pienaar joined Everton from German club Borussia Dortmund in 2007 and spent three-and-a-half seasons at Goodison Park before leaving for Tottenham in January 2011 .

bigger club, and the talk of "history"?Everton aint a bigger club than spurs or chel their history is hardly better in fact everton have "less" 1st class honours then both chels& spurs! most of their titles were pre-war and in total they have 19 trophies compared to 22 chels and 24 spurs, better history? anyway i'm more concerned with the future and both london clubs look brighter than everton?!?!

Blimey there's some ignorant rubbish on here! I'm a Bluenose, as you might guess from my name, and I will say that right here and now Spurs ARE a bigger club than Everton, in terms of league position, money, and squad. Back in the 80s we WERE a bigger club than Spurs for the same reason. History, as Henry Ford said, is bunk.
Oh, and Spurs only bought SP to nobble a rival. Welcome back Peanut!

...and read previous comments that explain how both fees were heavily influenced by the time remaining on his contract at the time of both transfers.
