Mark McLaughlin fired the visitors in front in the first minute and Peter Weatherson headed a second.

Michael Herd's strike pulled one back for Shire, but Stephen Stirling's volley put Morton 3-1 up at the break.

Tony Wallace's tap-in and Michael Tidser's 25-yard free-kick completed the Greenock side's rout.
