Kevin Kilbane considers Barnsley player-coach offer

Former Republic of Ireland international Kevin Kilbane is considering taking a player-coach role at Barnsley.

BBC Radio Sheffield understands the Championship club have approached the 35-year-old, who is currently out of contract at Hull City.

Kilbane is currently in Poland, working for BBC Radio 5 live as part of the station's Euro 2012 coverage.

His former clubs include Preston, West Brom, Sunderland, Everton and Wigan.

Should Kilbane agree a move to Oakwell, he would work under manager Keith Hill and his assistant David Flitcroft, as well as adding experience to the first-team squad.

Kilbane told BBC Sport he has spoken to new Tigers' manager Steve Bruce and been told it is unlikely he will be involved in any capacity at the club next season.
