Chelsea 2-1 Liverpool: It is a special day in the English football calendar as the FA Cup final takes place at Wembley. The organsiers have attracted criticism because of the 1715 BST kick-off time, but that has not stopped the supporters from flooding into the stadium
The sun is shining over Wembley and the pitch looks in pristine condition prior to kick-off, but has notoriously been known to cut up. In the tale of the strikers, Didier Drogba starts up front instead of Fernando Torres, while Luis Suarez is the lone striker for Liverpool in preference to Andy Carroll
First blood to Chelsea! Barely 10 minutes gone, and Ramires evades left-back Jose Enrique before advancing forward and planting a shot past Pepe Reina's near post. The Spanish goalkeeper won't be happy with his efforts there, having looked a bread-and-butter save
Chelsea double their advantage early in the second-half. Frank Lampard finds Didier Drogba in the box, and the veteran striker evades Martin Skrtel to find the net. It is the Ivorian eighth goal in eight visits to Wembley and he becomes the first player to score in four FA Cup finals
Liverpool come into the game as the half progresses and substitute Andy Carroll reduces his side's deficit on 64 minutes, the striker carving out an opportunity after picking up Jose Bosingwa's poor clearance and firing past Petr Cech
With the game drawing to a close, Carroll wheels away in celebration after heading in what he believes to be an equalising goal. But referee Phil Dowd rules that the ball didn't fully cross the line, to leave Carroll and his teammates howling in frustration
In a season which saw the club in disarray after the sacking of former manager Andre Villas-Boas, Chelsea have reached the Champions League final and picked up the FA Cup
