Tranmere clinched a top-half finish in League One as they ended their campaign with a draw against Scunthorpe United.

Jake Cassidy shot wide for the hosts before Mark McChrystal headed Rovers ahead following Andy Robinson's corner.

Martin Devaney had an opportunity to double Tranmere's advantage but hit the side-netting after a fine passing move.

Garry Thompson's excellent finish from inside the penalty area made it 1-1 and the visitors nearly won it but Eddie Nolan's effort hit the top of the bar.

The point saw Tranmere end the season in 12th position, while Scunthorpe finished in 18th, three places and nine points above the relegation spots.

"I was pleased with us, I thought we passed it really well and the movement was good, especially as we are down to bare bones.

"We said we wanted to end the season really well and you know you don't want to come away and finish the season with a loss. Especially when you have brilliant support away from home and you want to give the supporters something to cheer about.

"We're trying to work really hard on possesion and moving the ball around the pitch and making it difficult for the opposition and we did that."
