UPS AND DOWNS ROUND-UP
Here's our guide to what's happened on a busy day in the Football League.
Southampton clinched automatic promotion in the final round of games in the Championship, with the play-off semi-final line-up now confirmed as West Ham v Cardiff and Birmingham v Blackpool.
Exeter, Chesterfield and Wycombe were all relegated from League One, while the second automatic promotion place and the final play-off spot will be decided on the final day of the season.
Swindon clinched the League Two title, with Shrewsbury promoted and the final automatic promotion spot going to the final day of the season. At the bottom, Macclesfield relinquished their Football League status - with Hereford and Barnet ready to slug it out for the second relegation place next Saturday.
-
1920:
I'll leave you with a full round-up of all the movers, shakers, slippers and sliders on a maths-packed day in the Football League. Hope you have enjoyed it and thanks for all your messages. See you next time.
-
1918:
So who is where on the final day of the League One season? Stevenage are at home to 12th-placed Bury while Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United take on Wycombe and Exeter, both already relegated, respectively.
-
1916:
Stevenage still have control of their own destiny, moving up to sixth and the final play-off spot on goal difference. They may well meet Sheffield United in the play-offs with the Blades now depending on other results if they are to jump up to the second automatic promotion spot. The hosts are third, a point behind neighbours Sheffield Wednesday.
-
FULL-TIME- Sheffield United 2-2 Stevenage
-
1912:
We are injury time on top of injury time...
-
1912:
The ball is out behind for a Stevenage goal-kick and the visitors breath a sigh of relief.
-
1911:
Two minutes to go and Michael Doyle lumps long into the Stevenage box...
-
1910:
Sheffield United are packing the Stevenage box and Chris Day has to keep his eyes on a Kevin McDonald's dipping effort before James Beattie goes close.
-
1908:INJURY TIME
Four minutes of injury time pops up on the board. United fans like the look of that.
-
1907:
James Beattie is within a shinpad of a winner as Chris Day boots away his effort, before Stevenage's Scott Laird heads away from beneath his own bar. Two minutes to go, hold on to your hats.
-
GOAL- Sheffield United 2-2 Stevenage - Lowton (85 mins)
Sheffield United suddenly have their eyes on all three points and supplanting Sheffield Wednesday in second as Matthew Lowton meets Richard Creswell's header down with a careful side-foot volley that Chris Day gets a finger to but can't keep out.
-
1902:
Kevin McDonald thumps the advertising hoardings with a full-blooded strike that fizzes just wide of the Stevenage post.
-
1901:
Michael O'Halloran is on to Richard Cresswell's knock-down but he can't sort his feet quickly enough and the ball trundles into Stevenage keeper Chris Day's grateful arms.
-
1859:
Stevenage goalkeeper Chris Day is solid behind a low skimming cross and the atmosphere at Bramall Lane deflates a smidge.
-
1856:
Exeter's Paul Tisdale was one of three League One managers to suffer relegation today.
He told BBC Radio Devon: "We've had a while to prepare for the likelihood of relegation, but I'm really pleased with the way we've played over the last month. We still kept going to the last and the way we played today, it could have been a different story.
"I'm a realist and I know we've got a building process to do over the next couple of months, ready for next season. I thought we would do better this year, I would easily look back across the last 12 months, look at the decisions I made and question those decisions."
-
1856:
Hereford manager Richard O'Kelly guided his side to a 3-0 win at Crawley today - although if they are to retain their Football League status, they must beat Torquay next week and hope Barnet fail to win at Burton.
O'Kelly told BBC Hereford & Worcester: "We defended well, kept organised, and the pleasing thing was we were constructive with the ball. We went forward with a bit of quality and that really pleased me.
"I'm a great believer that what you do on the training pitch will transmit into the game. They've got confidence with what they've achieved. We need a good crowd next week at Edgar Street to give us a boost and put the pressure on Torquay."
-
1856:
As it stands remember, Sheffield United would go into the final game two points adrift of Sheffield Wednesday in second, albeit with a much better goal difference. Stevenage would be sixth, two points clear of Notts County.
-
1854:
"Attack, attack, attack attack," implore the home fans and United look like they are going to do exactly that for the final 15 minutes. There are goals left in this one I wager.
-
1853:SUBSTITUTION
Both sides shuffle their packs as Sheffield United bring on James Beattie for Andy Taylor while Stevenage replace Robin Shroot with John Mousinho.
-
1852:
Michael O'Halloran lingers a little too long over a shooting opportunity and a Stevenage defender is across to snuff out the shot with a sliding block.
-
1850:
Another big chance for Stevenage as Laurie Wilson's stinging effort is palmed back into the danger zone by Steve Simonsen. Fortunately for the Sheffield United keeper Mark Roberts can not react quickly enough to turn the loose ball back past him and into the net.
-
1849:
Sheffield United have laid siege to the Stevenage goal. It looks a little premature to be throwing such numbers forward though with 20 minutes to go and the hosts are almost outnumbered on the counter again.
-
1847:
Laurie Wilson warms the palms of United keeper Steve Simonsen with a long-range rattler. Still plenty of buzz about the visitors.
-
1846:
Stevenage's Robin Shroot squanders a superb chance, with a little bit of help from Luke Freeman. The midfielder is a little late as he slips in Shroot on a swift counter and his team-mate opts to cut inside the covering defenders. It is a poor option as he is crowded out and his shot is deflected behind.
-
1845:
Veteran Preston midfielder Graham Alexander put the seal on his football career today with a last-minute equaliser in their 2-2 draw with Charlton in his last game before retirement.
He told BBC Radio Lancashire: "It's been a tough decision to make but hopefully it's the right one. I was as nervous coming on today as when I made my debut at 19 because it's such a big thing for me to stop playing football.
"I've lived my dream for so long and now I've had the fairytale ending. I've been unbelievably fortunate over my career to play with so many good clubs and so many good players."
-
1843:
Twenty-five minutes of normal time remain. Stevenage have been staright back down the other end pressing for a third in response to Cresswell's effort.
-
GOAL- Sheffield United 1-2 Stevenage - Cresswell
An old-school striker's goal from Richard Cresswell revives the Blades hopes. He out-muscles Scott Laird in the middle and directs a pinpoint header inside Chris Day's far post.
-
1839:
A disappointing delivery from Matthew Lowton drifts long and there are a few groans around the ground.
-
1836:
Lee Williamson drags a shot wide from the edge of the box but the Blades are getting closer. Those changes seem to have got the home fans' seal of approval with the atmosphere bubbling up a notch.
-
1835:
Richard Cresswell is already sniffing around the six-yard box with interest, but has not quite got the legs to reach an inviting cross.
-
1833:SUBSTITUTION
Sheffield United boss Danny Wilson makes a double swap with Richard Cresswell and Ryan Flynn on for Chris Porter and Stephen Quinn.
-
1831:
That is the closest that United have come in the second half. Neill Collins gets a meaty head onto Lee Williamson's free-kick delivery but Stevenage's Jon Ashton gets his own bonce in the way to flick it over the top.
-
1829:
Strikers Richard Cresswell and James Beattie are on the bench for Sheffield United and manager Danny Wilson must be tempted.
-
GOAL- Sheffield United 0-2 Stevenage - Laird (47 mins)
The Blades are up against it now. Scott Laird is given too much space on the left edge of the Sheffield United box and his drilled shot takes a slight, but decisive, deflection that leaves Steve Simonsen stranded in the hosts' goal.
-
1824:
Almost straight from the kick-off, Stevenage threaten with Robin Shroot lashing over the top from distance.
-
1823:KICK-OFF
Stevenage get us back under way.
-
1822:
It's looking gusty out there in Yorkshire, with the majority of the flags pointing towards the end that Stevenage will be defending in the second half. A few stratospheric swirlers might be a useful tactic for the hosts if it stays the same.
-
1820:
The bones of that opening goal have been picked over and, although the ball bobbled between them before finally setting off for the bottom corner, it has been deemed that Stevenage's Joel Byrom did get the final touch ahead of defender Harry Maguire.
-
1815:
Brian Horton has said that it is "highly unlikely" he will stay as manager of Macclesfield following their relegation. "I wanted to be the man that kept them up, not the man that took them down," he told BBC Radio Manchester.
"It's highly unlikely that I'll stay with the club going into non-league. I was brought in for nine games and I didn't expect us to go down today. I honestly thought we'd win and take it to the last Saturday.
"I'll sit down with the board on Monday and see what they want me to do. If they want me to take the side to Southend (on the final day of the season) then I will."
-
1814:
It promises to be a tense final day of the season in League Two next week. Only one point separates Crawley, Torquay and Southend who are all in contention for the final automatic promotion place. A win for Crawley at Accrington will realistically be enough to seal promotion because of their goal difference - but anything less could let in either of their rivals.
At the bottom, Barnet fans will be familiar with final day relegation battles - and their destiny will at least be in their own hands as they go to Burton next Saturday. Win and they're safe. But if the Bees fail to win, they will be relegated if Hereford beat Torquay at Edgar Street.
-
1811:
If there is going to be a lot on the line for supporters of the two Sheffield clubs next weekend, there will be plenty to play for in League Two as well. The man behind the (freshly updated) BBC Sport's Ups and Downs page has been on the case...
-
1809:
The home side depart to a bit of a mixed reaction from their fans. A few wobbling nerves, but they should be steadied by their side enjoying the vast majority of possession in the last five minutes.
-
1808:HALF-TIME- Sheffield United 0-1 Stevenage
-
1807:INJURY TIME
"We're on our way to Wembley," chant the visiting fans as the assistant referee indicates two minutes of injury time.
-
1806:
Just a couple of minutes left in the first half.
-
1805:
Sheffield United have pressed forward well in response to that opener but the Stevenage defence has withstood everything thrown at it so far. Mark Roberts hooks clear Lee Williamson's free-kick.
-
1803:
Harry Maguire is appealing to the linesman, the referee and anyone who will listen for a Sheffield United penalty after his attempt to nod the ball back across goal from the far post looks like it is blocked by Mark Roberts' stray arm. Maguire is getting no joy though as his protests are waved away.
-
1759:
That goal would leave Sheffield Wednesday two points clear of United in second heading into the final day if it proves to be the only one of the game. United's goal difference is vastly superior to their neighbours' though.
-
GOAL- Sheffield United 0-1 Stevenage - Byrom (31 mins)
It is a lot quieter now at Bramall Lane apart from a small pocket of Stevenage fans. The visitors counter at pace through Patrick Agyemang and the tall striker sweeps the ball in from the right. Joel Byrom has a defender on his back in the middle but he rides the challenge to steer home the finish from 12 yards.
-
1751:
Stevenage's Laurie Wilson is gving the linesman a hearty chunk of his mind after being flagged against for tugging back a defender.
-
1750:
Stevenage are starting to gain the upper hand. Patrick Agyemang puts the ball across, but he could really do with being on the end of a cross himself.
-
1748:
Luke Freeman is looking lively for the visitors and his heavily-deflected shot from 20 yards spits just inches wide of the Sheffield United post.
-
1747:
Stevenage's Luke Freeman weaves his way to the edge of the box before laying the ball into the path of Robin Shroot, but his team-mate screws his shot off target after being forced wide.
-
1743:
Twenty minutes on the clock, a bit early for an 'as it stands' check, but let's not let that stop us. Sheffield United would trail Wednesday by a point heading into the final day, Stevenage would be kept out of the play-off spots on goal difference.
-
1742:
Lee Williamson swipes a volleyed chance over the top as he tenses up 18 yards out. It would have had to have been a heck of a hit though with the ball bouncing awkwardly around waist height for the United midfielder.
-
1740:
Jamaal Lascelles is the 18-year-old full-back tasked with keeping Sheffield United's Stephen Quinn quiet. It has been a tough ask so far.
-
1738:
Kevin McDonald pumps the ball into the Stevenage box once more but his hoisted pass floats clear over the head of United team-mate Chris Porter.
-
1736:
Sheffield United have penned Stevenage back effectively in the last five minutes as the rain begins to fall.
-
1735:
Stephen Quinn bends another superb cross around his full-back, but none of his team-mates are quite on the right wavelength and the ball skims harmlessly across the face of the Stevenage goal.
-
1733:
A spritely start to the game with neither side needing to be asked twice when presented with a sight of goal. Michael Doyle chances his arm from 20 yards, but a deflection takes the sting out of his effort as it bounces tamely through to Chris Day.
-
1731:
Stevenage's Luke Freeman lets fly from distance. There is plenty of power behind it, but the 20-year-old has got underneath it a little and it whistles over the top.
-
1730:
Luke Devlin: "Graham Alexander (see 1702). Take a bow sir. Great professional."
-
1730:
The left foot of Stephen Quinn again pulls apart the Stevenage defence with a raking cross, this time from the right. Chris Porter is stretching at the far post but can't quite wrap his foot around it.
-
1728:
From Alex at Moss Rose: "Fans in United and City shirts in unison for once this weekend, many upset faces at Macclesfield being relegated."
-
1727:
Stevenage are hunting their third successive promotion which would take them to the Championship from the Conference in double quick time. Manager Gary Smith is left shaking his head after the visitors waste their first corner though.
-
1726:
Rob Frost: "I can see the headline now after winner for Notts County at Wycombe - "Judge sends Wycombe down'!"
-
1725:
A raucous atmosphere at Bramall Lane, buoyed by a confident start by the home side.
-
1724:
A superb chance for United to take the lead in the very opening stages as Stephen Quinn whips across a dangerous ball from the left, but neither Michael O'Halloran or Chris Porter can give it the scoring touch it deserves.
-
1722:KICK-OFF
Sheffield United get us under way at Bramall Lane.
-
1720:
It will come down to the final day either way with Sheffield Wednesday at home against relegated Wycombe while United play away at another doomed side, Exeter.
-
1719:
White, red and black balloons are punched into the air in the stands as the teams emerge. They could have been into a promotion party by the end of this match had Wednesday lost against Brentford. Champers firmly back on ice.
-
1716:
Sheffield Wednesday's win away to Brentford has thrown down the gauntlet to Sheffield United. The Blades have to beat Stevenage to reclaim the second automatic promotion spot. Stevenage meanwhile can leapfrog back over Notts County in sixth with a draw. Kick-off is only four minutes away at Bramall Lane.
-
1713:BBC Sport's Matt Hallam keeping an eye on the game:FULL-TIME- Barnet 4-0 Wimbledon
"Barnet looked to be tiring in the second half, but a scintillating final 10 minutes has given them real momentum going into the final game of the season at Burton Albion.
"Hereford's win at Crawley means they are only two points behind the Bees, meaning Barnet must equal or better Hereford's result against Torquay."
-

-

"Macclesfield's 15-year stay in the Football League could come to an end today and they've made a slow start to their home game against Burton.
"Jacques Maghoma and Cleveland Taylor have both gone close for the visitors, who have conceded 11 goals in their last two matches. No sign of the Silkmen ending their winless run, which stretches back to the final day of 2011."

In League Two, play-off hopefuls Cheltenham have gone behind at home to Bradford.
-
GOAL- Yeovil 0-1 Chesterfield - Bowery (8 mins)
Chesterfield continue to claw their way towards safety as Jordan Bowery sneaks in the back post to score his third in four games. Wins for Walsall and Leyton Orient would condemn them to the drop though regardless of the result.
-

-
1500:KICK-OFF
We are under way in League One and League Two's 1500 BST kick-offs.
-

-
1458:
One other Football League-related issue on which to keep you posted: Luton have clinched the final Conference play-off place with a 2-0 win at champions Fleetwood.
So, there will be four former League clubs in the play-offs looking to reclaim their status as a member of the 92 Club - Wrexham face Luton, while Mansfield take on York.
-
1458:
At the bottom of the Football League it is two from three for the drop. Macclesfield will go down if they lose to Burton and Barnet avoid defeat against AFC Wimbledon, or if they draw and Barnet win. Hereford will go down if Barnet win and the Bulls fail to win.
-
1456:
In League Two, the focus is on Shrewsbury. They will be promoted if they beat Dagenham & Redbridge, or if Torquay fail to beat Crewe, or if Crawley lose to Hereford. A draw is enough for the Shrews if Torquay and Crawley both fail to win. And Crawley will be promoted if they win and Torquay lose. Got all that?
-
1455:
Stevenage at home will be a testing final hurdle for Sheffield United. The visitors have kept in the hunt for the play-offs despite manager Graham Westley's defection to Preston earlier in the season.
Victory for the side formerly known as Borough, combined with anything less for both Carlislie and Notts County, would secure them a top-six spot.
-
1454:
Southampton striker Rickie Lambert: "All the goals I scored this season didn't matter, we had one objective this season to get up and we have done it."
-
1451:
At the bottom of League One, Chesterfield will be down and out if they lose at Yeovil and a draw will not be enough if Walsall avoid defeat against Huddersfield. Even victory won't be enough if Walsall and Leyton Orient win. In three words, it looks grim.
-
1447:
Sheffield United will follow runaway leaders Charlton into the Championship if Sheffield Wednesday lose at Brentford and the Blades beat Stevenage in the day's late kick-off at 1720 BST.
United will be as good as up if they win and Wednesday draw, with a 12-goal swing required for the Owls to snatch second on the final day.
Anything less than victory for United though, and a Wednesday win will carry them into pole position for second.
-
1444:

-
1426:

-
BBC Sport Wales' Phil Tibballs keeping an eye on the game:Crystal Palace 1-2 Cardiff

-
FULL-TIME- Southampton 4-0 Coventry
The final whistle blows and the Southampton fans flood onto the pitch. Somewhere in the middle of all that are the Saints players. It will be some time before they are back in the dressing room.
-
INJURY TIME
Southampton have got the cigars out at St Mary's, strolling through the dying stages as the clock ticks through normal time. Two minutes of injury-time.
-
GOAL- Watford 1-1 Middlesbrough - Emnes (85 mins)
It's too little, too late for Boro, despite a goal by Marvin Emnes looking to earn them a point at Vicarage Road - they need to win, and for Cardiff to concede twice, to knock them out of the play-offs.
-
1416:
Chris Houlgate: "What's sad is that this is Coventry genuinely putting up a fight."

-
1413:
Birmingham midfielder Wade Elliott is a lifelong Southampton fan and may just be celebrating tonight - his penalty has just put the Blues 2-0 up against champions Reading, and he will have the chance to join Saints in the Premier League when they face Blackpool in the play-offs.
Meanwhile, a goal at each end at Turf Moor means Burnley are drawing 1-1 with Bristol City, Ipswich are 3-1 up at Doncaster, and Peterborough are level at 1-1 at Derby.
-
1413:SUBSTITUTION
Adam Lallana is the next Southampton player to take an early bow as he is replaced by Jason Puncheon. The Saints fans oblige with applause cascading down from the stands.
-
GOAL- West Ham 2-1 Hull - Evans (81 mins)
It is a soft late goal that gives the Tigers the hope of grabbing a late point. Corry Evans out-jumps Robert Green as the ball loops up invitingly in the penalty area and flicks his header into the empty net. With Southampton well ahead against Coventry, it is of little consequence to the Hammers anyway.
-
1408:BBC Sport Wales' Phil Tibballs keeping an eye on the game:Crystal Palace 1-2 Cardiff
"Cardiff are in control without having any clear-cut chances since taking the lead and with news of Watford's goal filtering down from the terraces, it feels like both sides would be happy to hear the full-time whistle."

GOAL- Watford 1-0 Middlesbrough - Iwelumo (69 mins)

"Coventry are having to dig so deep here that two of their young players on the field are not even listed on the back of the match programme."
-
1401:SUBSTITUTION
Teenager Joe Henderson, recalled from his loan for Nuneaton earlier this week, is on for Coventry. The Sky Blues have been scraping the barrel all season.
-
1359:
Darren Campbell: "Clearly the key to any football club achieving promotion is to have a really good physiotherapist..."
Michael Peet: "Boro have now hit the post 27 times this season. Luck can surely get no worse."
-
1358:
Bit of an unwelcome surprise for Bristol City against Burnley though where David James has gone off injured and, with no goalkeeper on the bench, defender Liam Fontaine has taken up the gloves. Everyone loves an outfield player in goal, no?
-
1354:
Cardiff look to have locked down the the final play-off spot after those early worries following Wilfried Zaha's opener at Selhurst Park. No last-day surprises in the Championship as it stands then...
-
GOAL- Crystal Palace 1-2 Cardiff - Cowie (62 mins)
What a turnaround by Cardiff. Don Cowie lashes the ball home from Mark Hudson's flick-on. It looks like the Bluebirds are heading for the play-offs, unless Palace can score twice and Middlesbrough can find a goal at Vicarage Road.
-
GOAL- Southampton 4-0 Coventry - Lallana (63 mins)
Southampton are romping over the finish line now. Rickie Lambert wins a header at the back post and his nod-down bounces all the way through the six-yard box for Adam Lallana to slot home side-footed.
-
1350:
Billy Sharp is limping towards the sidelines momentarily after copping a high foot from Conor Thomas in a sliding challenge. He is up and running now though.
-
1349:
Infostrada Sports: "Southampton's next 45 minutes are worth \u00a32m per minute says Deloitte. Promo to PL boosts revenue by \u00a390m."
Other financial services companies are available...
-
GOAL- Southampton 3-0 Coventry - Hooiveld (59 mins)
Jos Hooiveld has his eighth goal of the season and the party is fully under way at St Mary's. Coventry fail to clears a corner and the Dutch centre-half swivels and slots from six yards out.
-
1344:BBC Sport's Marc Higginson keeping an eye on the game:West Ham 2-0 Hull
"West Ham are stroking the ball about confidently now. Any problems they might have had picking up victories at home look to be in the past. If they take the same confidence into the play-offs, they have a fantastic chance of making sure their season ends on a high note after all."
-
1344:
Rickie Lambert has sent a rasping effort skimming past the joint of post and bar. Still plenty of pressure from the Saints.
-
GOAL- Crystal Palace 1-1 Cardiff - Whittingham (53 mins)
Peter Whittingham whips the ball home from a narrow angle to draw Cardiff level. It looked like Joe Mason got a slight touch to the free-kick but Whittingham is claiming it. As you'd expect, the away end is bouncing.
And Cardiff's goal difference means that a point will be enough for them to clinch the last play-off place, unless Middlesbrough rustle up a victory by 10 or more goals.
-
1342:BBC Sport Wales' Phil Tibballs keeping an eye on the game:Crystal Palace 1-0 Cardiff
"Almost the perfect start to the second half for Cardiff but Kenny Miller's powerful angled shot whistles narrowly wide of the Palace goal. It's got the Cardiff supporters off their seats though. Game on."
-
1342:BBC Radiio 5 live's Conor McNamara at St Mary's Stadium:
On Twitter: "Southampton are getting ready for the big time. Prawn Sandwiches in the press room already."
-
1342:
James Penney: "Re: 1323 - Southampton have had too much investment to be the new Norwich. Fair play to them though, great to see another team do it!"
Ross Pennington: "On the Grant Holt and Rickie Lambert comparison - they played together up front for us (Rochdale) many moons ago. Again at Euro 2012?"
-
1341:
West Ham are keeping the heat up on the Saints. It looks like it is going to be in vain though. Sam Allardyce has withdrawn Carlton Cole to keep his powder dry for the play-offs, but could a Coventry goal get Southmpton shaking? No sign of it as yet at St Mary's...
-
1338:
Guily Do Prado has been bombing on whenever he can for Southampton and he arrives in the penalty box with another late run but can only direct his header over the top.
-
GOAL- West Ham 2-0 Hull - Cole (49 mins)
Carlton Cole scores his 14th goal of the season as he superbly peels away from his marker and slots home after a quality pass from Henri Lansbury. The Hammers look to have secured all three points now.
-
1334:BBC 5 live sports extra summariser Clive Walker at Upton Park:West Ham 1-0 Hull
"I expect Big Sam knows the score at Southampton now and, under the circumstances, he might make changes as he thinks about the play-off game on Thursday. But they need to win this game too, to take some momentum into the play-offs."
-
1334:
From Eddie of Lincoln: "Once again we see the level standard and lack of commitment by the home side at Elland Road - certain players do not deserve to wear the white shirt!"
-
1333:KICK-OFF
Coventry City get us under way in the second half and they have introduced Sean Jeffers for Gael Bigirimana. It is the 20-year-old's second substitute appearance of the season.
-
1332:Former Southampton captain (and now Under-18 coach) Jason Dodd on Match of the Day:
"First 10 minutes, we were a little bit cagey, but now we're showing what a very good side we are. This stadium needs to be in the Premier League, that's where we deserve to be, and hopefully the second half will be as good as the first."
-
1332:HALF-TIME
The other half-time scores we haven't mentioned in the games which don't directly affect the promotion set-up - it's Barnsley 0-0 Brighton, Birmingham 1-0 Reading, Burnley 0-0 Bristol City, Derby 1-0 Peterborough, Doncaster 1-2 Ipswich, Leeds 0-1 Leicester, Millwall 1-1 Blackpool, and Nottingham Forest 0-0 Portsmouth.
So as things stand, it will be West Ham v Cardiff and Birmingham v Blackpool in the play-offs.
-
1329:
So, if we expected Southampton to turn over the doomed Sky Blues, the biggest story in the Championship at the half-time point might be Cardiff who are in danger of slipping out of the top six. They are alright as it stands, but if Middlesbrough get their noses in front at Vicarage Road and Palace cling on for the win against the Bluebirds, it is seventh for the Welsh side.
-
1326:BBC Sport Wales' Phil Tibballs keeping an eye on the game:HALF-TIME- Crystal Palace 1-0 Cardiff
"Last chance of the half for Cardiff but Liam Lawrence can only curl his free-kick into Lewis Price's arms from the edge of the Palace box. It's half-time at Selhurst Park and Cardiff fans have got the jitters. "
-
1326:

-
1325:BBC Sport's Mike Peter at Vicarage Road:HALF-TIME- Watford 0-0 Middlesbrough
"Boro increasingly dominant as the half went on, but Watford had the best chance to take the lead just before half-time, Prince Buaben's whipped ball across goal taking Chris Iwelumo by surprise, bouncing off him and just wide."
-
1324:HALF-TIME
The half-time whistles are blowing around the Championship - and in the other games that matter, it's West Ham 1-0 Hull,Crystal Palace 1-0 Cardiff and Watford 0-0 Middlesbrough.
The Hammers' efforts are in vain while Southampton lead against Coventry, while Cardiff going behind means they're hanging on to the last play-off place by their fingernails - and if Middlesbrough were to go ahead, they would pinch sixth place.
-
1323:
So Southampton fans, is it too early to plot the Premier League plan? Rickie Lambert is Grant Holt, Adam Lallana is Wes Hoolahan, Nigel Adkins is Paul Lambert and Southampton are the new Norwich right?
-
1321:BBC Match of the Day's Robbie Savage at St Mary's Stadium:
"Billy Sharp has been a great signing for Southampton, he's lethal from close range. With good quality up top, an old-fashioned 4-4-2 can get you out of this league."
-
1321:BBC Match of the Day's Gordon Strachan at St Mary's Stadium:
"I feel a bit sorry for Coventry it is a youth team out there, I have older grandchildren! They play the game in the right way, but they just lack the muscle to match Southampton."
-
1320:BBC Sport's Nabil Hassan at St. Mary's Stadium:Southampton 2-0 Coventry
"It was a nervous start from Southampton but two goals in three minutes have settled the nerves of the home crowd and promotion is now just 45 minutes away. It's a cracking atmosphere at St Mary's Stadium which is understandable considering the prize at stake but as things stand Saints are going up."
-
1318:BBC Sport Wales' Phil Tibballs keeping an eye on the game:Crystal Palace 1-0 Cardiff
"Cardiff are getting into their stride here and force Lewis Price into another good save. It was Mark Hudson who headed the ball down but the Palace goalkeeper did well to gather on a slippery surface. It seems fancy dress is the order of the day in the away end at Selhurst Park this afternoon. Elvis, Elmo and of course, inflatable sheep, are all supporting the Bluebirds it seems."
-
HALF-TIME- Southampton 2-0 Coventry
-
1318:
Southampton finish the half with Coventry pinned back in their own penalty box and all is well on that part of the south coast.
-
1316:INJURY TIME
Two minutes of injury time at St Mary's.
-
1315:BBC Sport's Owen Phillips keeping an eye on the game:Nottingham Forest 0-0 Portsmouth
"There's a distinctly end-of season feel to the action at the City Ground where Nottingham Forest and already-relegated Portsmouth have nothing to play for. The fans are enjoying the day though, with plenty in fancy dress.
"We have all sorts, including Smurfs, some Robin Hoods accompanied by a selection of Merry Men, as well as some people in banana suits. Even two-time European Cup winning captain and BBC Radio Nottingham summariser John McGovern is a bit distracted. 'What colour does a Smurf go if you strangle him?' he ponders. Maybe things will liven up on the pitch after the break."
-
1315:
From Ian, Essex: "If Pompey had not had the 10 points deducted, there would have been 10 games with something to play for today. That is what makes the Championship so exciting."
-
1315:
In another mid-table battle, Martyn Waghorn gives Leicester a 1-0 lead at Leeds.
-
1315:BBC 5 live sports extra summariser Clive Walker at Upton Park:West Ham 1-0 Hull
"Hull are sitting back, and West Ham are growing in confidence. The Hammers are in control now they have scored. They just need to keep going and hope something happens for them at Southampton. It looks unlikely, but stranger things have happened in football."
-
1314:
A quick bit of admin on that Southampton opener where Billy Sharp has been awarded the goal rather than Adam Lallana. I suspect slightly more people might have him down as first scorer on their betting slip so hopefully brings joy to some.
-
1312:
Rickie Lambert, hunting his 28th Championship goal of the season, sees a shot blocked at point blank range as the ball breaks invitingly for him from Danny Butterfield's cross.
-
1311:
After a week of heavy showers across the UK, it's raining goals at the Keepmoat Stadium, where Doncaster have pulled one back and now trail Ipswich 2-1.
-
1310:
Kieran Colverd: "Well, Southampton have ruined the excitement with this 2-0 lead... not a surprise though Coventry are awful."
-
1308:
Southampton are still straining for a third, but they leave a little bit too much space at the back and Jose Fonte has to hurry across to lever Oliver Norwood off the ball as he canters towards goal.
-
1307:
Adam Rooney has given Birmingham the lead against Reading, which pretty much cements them in fourth place. Their likely play-off opponents will be Blackpool, for whom Ian Evatt has just equalised at Millwall to make the score 1-1. Elsewhere, Ipswich are now 2-0 up at Doncaster.
-
1307:BBC Sport's Mike Peter at Vicarage Road:Watford 0-0 Middlesbrough
"The Boro fans went wild, presumably when Palace scored. They've had slightly the better of this half, both sides struggling to stay upright on a slippery pitch."
-
GOAL- West Ham 1-0 Hull - Cole (36 mins)
West Ham are holding up their end of the deal as Carlton Cole heads home a corner to put the Hammers into the lead. It has brought the Upton Park crowd to life. Now, they need some inspiration from Coventry at Southampton.
-
1306:SUBSTITUTION
Coventry's hopes of getting back into the game have taken a knock along with captain Gary McSheffrey. The striker limps off to be replaced by debutant Will Roberts and tosses the armband to Martin Crainie.
-
1303:BBC Sport's Marc Higginson keeping an eye on the game:West Ham 0-0 Hull
"Already it looks like being 'one of those days' for West Ham. There are some glum faces in the stands, because of Southampton's two goals, and the Hammers are not really creating too many chances. Kevin Nolan and Henri Lansbury have both had shots on goal, but neither player troubled the Hull goalkeeper."
