Glentoran beat Portadown 1-0 at Shamrock Park
Portadown 0-1 Glentoran
Glentoran secured their first win in eight matches by beating Portadown at Shamrock Park thanks to Leon Knight's fine individual 52nd-minute goal.
Knight outpaced Gary Breen and rifled the ball past Tuda Murphy.
Matthew Tipton had two half-chances for the Ports in the first half, while Ciaran Martyn blazed over the bar.
In the second half a John McGuigan shot flew wide and Jason Hill looked to have fouled Conor McCluskey inside the area but the referee waved play on.
Ronnie McFall's side remain two points ahead of Cliftonville in the battle for second place.
"Eddie (Patterson) is trying to get us to play a new style of football and to improve our fitness," said Glens defender Sean Ward after the game.
"Our focus is primarily on improving ahead of next season," added the defender.
