1. 2246:

Right, I'll leave you lucky UK users with a lovely midweek edition of Match of the Day which is streaming front and centre of the website with all the goals and goings-on from tonight and yesterday. Enjoy, and goodbye for now.

2. 2246:
MOTD's Guy Mowbray at the Etihad Stadium

"Roberto Mancini hopes his words at Arsenal will come true. Never say never was his mantra. All they have to do is to win games and hope Manchester United slip up. City have done their bit and it was pretty comfortable for them as they blew West Bromwich Albion away at Etihad."

3. 2243:

MOTD's Conor McNamara at Loftus Road: "Swansea can have few complaints about the outcome after QPR gave themselves a fighting chance of avoiding relegation with a fine performance."

4. 2242:
MOTD's Jonathan Pearce at Molineux

"Another victory for Arsenal takes a giant stride to a Champions League place. Wolves and Terry Connor deserve some sympathy but they also look all but doomed."

5. 2241:
MOTD's Steve Wilson at DW Stadium

"After 14 games against United, and 14 defeats, Wigan produce a rousing display to climb out of the bottom three for the first time since September. They deserved it as well."

6. 2240:

Let's get a run-down on our match reporters' final thoughts to polish off an entertaining evening.

Herbie Starkey on Twitter:‏ "Suppose it gives the press something to talk about, but the title race is done and dusted. Citeh dropped points at a crucial point."

Alex Batt on Twitter: "Wolves were destined for relegation the moment they sacked Mick McCarthy and replaced him with Terry Connor."

8. 2238:

Former Manchester City manager Joe Royle on BBC Radio 5 live after an important night in the top-flight: "I don't think it's been a vintage season in the Premier League but it's been exciting because of it."

The quality may not have been at the level that it has been in previous years, but there have been a superb storylines. The Manchester clubs tussling at the top, Tottenham's fast start to the season, Arsenal's strong finish to it, Newcastle on the rise, Liverpool and Chelsea struggling to produce results that their spending demands while Norwich, Swansea and QPR have attacked the top flight in different ways. I've thoroughly enjoyed this season.

9. 2231:

Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers after his team's 3-0 defeat at QPR: "I can only apologise to our supporters. I have never had to do that before but we were poor. What I have said to the players is that we're not mathematically safe. We need to regroup and if we can do that then it will have been an iconic season for us."

10. 2229:

QPR manager Mark Hughes after his team's impressive 3-0 win over Swansea: "We have to take care of our own business and if we play like we did this evening, and the way we have played in recent weeks, then I'm convinced we will be fine."

11. 2228:

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger on whether his team's turnaround in form this season is one of his best triumphs: "Maybe yes. Considering where we were, we have improved a lot. But the spirit was always good and we were cautious because we have suffered a bit this year and it keeps our feet on the ground."

The Gunners were 10 points behind Tottenham before the north London derby on 26 February. They are now five points ahead of Spurs in third.

12. 2225:

Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany on Twitter: "Vintage performance tonight. Great to see the Poznan back."

13. 2225:

West Brom manager Roy Hodgson after his side's 4-0 defeat by Manchester City: "It's disappointing to lose by four goals. That doesn't happen often. But we were beaten by a better team.

It was a very dominant performance by Man City and we were always fighting to get in the game."

14. 2222:

Match of the Day on Twitter: "MOTD 2245 [BST] BBC1. 1 Wigan v Man Utd, 2 Man City v WBA, 3 QPR v Swansea, 4 Wolves v Arsenal, 5 Blackburn v Liverpool from last night."

15. 2222:

QPR owner Tony Fernandes ‏on Twitter: "As I always said - keep believing. Well done. Well done to Mark and all the team. Let's keep it up."

16. 2221:

Sam Brightman on Twitter: "[Re 2146] The clock at DW did not show 9.41 minutes of injury time, it showed the current time. Don't propagate myths."

Apologies. Good spot.

17. 2218:

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson: "Figueroa did handle it and the thing is that if he'd been close to the ball then you can say that you won't get those, but he was at least 15 yards away. It's a clear penalty.

"That's disappointing but sometimes you get the breaks and sometimes you don't - it evens itself out over the season.

"We had a break on Sunday. You say the big clubs get the decisions, but we didn't get anything. Phil Dowd had a disappointing night, he never got to grip with it.

"But that doesn't subtract from the fact that we were poor, we only had one shot on target and we were second to every ball.

"You have to recognise that Wigan are in a false position, they play some of the best football in the league you have to credit them for that."

"You wish the lead was better but considering where we were a few months ago you have to take it. I said both teams would drop points and you are always going to drop some."

18. 2216:

Wolves boss Terry Connor on Sebastien Bassong's red card: "The penalty turns the game on its head. Once it's a penalty and a red card, it's very much an uphill battle. If there was intent to pull him down then it's a red card and a penalty, but it was tangle of legs. It was very harsh I think.

Not a lot of rage behind those complaints from Connor. He had a bit of a thousand-mile stare on him as he delivered his post-match thoughts. Resigned to the drop? Plan B of preparing for life in the second tier is rapidly becoming Plan A.

19. 2210:

Ridhwaan Abdul Aziz on Twitter: "Mind games by Mancini there. Doesn't want to put pressure on the players and let them play with a 'nothing to lose' attitude."

Adnan Haroon ‏on Twitter: "Title race finished? Haha! Mancini has learned quite quickly! Hope he's right though."

Joseph Gourgey on Twitter: "Not impressed with all these Mancini mind games. Thought he was above that - keep it on the football pitch."

20. 2210:
GET INVOLVED

Garreth, via text: "Arsenal's win tonight means that the four teams chasing two Champions League places becomes the three behind the Gunners chasing one place. What a turnaround for Arsenal. Newcastle to nick the last spot, anyone?"

21. 2210:
BBC Radio 5 live's Pat Nevin at Manchester City v West Brom

"This was very close to the Manchester City from earlier in the season. Sometimes managers fall on to systems when they have injuries or suspensions. And tonight with Tevez and Aguero playing together, with two wide players in Nasri and Silva, there was no answer from West Brom."

22. 2210:

Sir Alex Ferguson is just fronting up to the television cameras and is in remarkably philosophical mood. He must have taken his irritation out on those in the away dressing room already. Quotes to come.

23. 2206:

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez: "The most pleasing aspect is that the win was nothing lucky. In our history we've never taken a point from United and we restricted them to one shot on target.

"It would be foolish to think we are out of the bottom three and we will stay there."

On reports that he will leave the club in the summer:

"Not at all. Sometimes you need to find out where the rumours come from. At this crucial time of the season it would be very unfair to look into that. I agreed a new long term contract in the summer. It's never been changed and we will let nothing distract us."

24. 2206:

Former Manchester City midfielder Patrick Vieira on Twitter: "So happy to see the Poznan back. Fans were fantastic tonight!"

25. 2204:

Roberto Mancini thinks the title race is still over does he? I hate to bring the phrase up, but I think that comment will be filed firmly under "mind games" by the papers in the morning.

26. 2201:
GET INVOLVED

Rich Ward ‏ "Where are Wigan and QPR getting this form from? They both looked doomed."

Spurs fan Bobby Brown on Twitter: "Whatever you may say about Joey Barton, on his day, he is a very good player. Man of the match for me."

27. 2201:

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini: "The title race is finished because United is a fantastic team and they have a fantastic spirit. I think five points is too much.

I think it is important for us to finish the season well. This is the best season for 50 years. I am proud of the players.

It was important because I think West Brom are a good team with a good manager and for that reason it was difficult.

I'm happy for him [Tevez] and his performance. He is not ready to play one game. He played 60 minutes. He can improve in the last five games."

28.
BBC Sport Chief Football Writer Phil McNulty at the DW Stadium

"The Great Escape" echoes around The DW Stadium after Wigan beat Manchester United. "Don't Stop Believing" might be going on the tannoy at Manchester City.

29. 2156:

A five-point swing in goal difference tonight means second-placed Manchester City have leapfrogged the leaders in that column and have a three-goal advantage heading into the home stretch.

30. 2153:
GET INVOLVED

Kevin Windsor ‏ "Title race back on after the leaders lose to one of the bottom three. THIS is why we love the Prem! Long may it continue!"

Jack Anniky ‏on Twitter: "Man Utd have counted their chickens before they've come home to roost. Five points can disappear quickly just ask Spurs."

Alex ‏on Twitter: "Who was giving Wigan hope of survival a few weeks ago? Got to love their ability to hit form at the right time."

31.
FULL-TIME- QPR 3-0 Swansea
32. 2153:

Blackburn's inability to put away a reeling 10-man Liverpool side last night looks even more costly in the light of tonight's results. Rovers, level with both Wigan and QPR before the start of play, see both pull away and are joined by Bolton in the drop zone. Five games left to pull it back...

33. 2148:

Fourth official Mike Dean has been handed the linesman's flag after Peter Kirkup pulled up injured. Not a lot else of interest to report at Loftus Road with the game petering out and the home fans cheering their side's every touch.

34. 2146:
GET INVOLVED

Darren, Redditch, via text: "As a Villa fan, it's not been pleasant viewing tonight - QPR and Wigan closing the gap but worst of all, Man U are going to hit us for a cricket score on Sunday!"

35. 2146:
BBC Sport's Chris Bevan at Manchester City v West Brom

Huge cheers and jigs of delight at the Etihad Stadium as Wigan's win is confirmed first on the big screen and then by the stadium announcer. I don't think the City fans will believe it until they watch it on Match of the Day but the door to the title race has re-opened for them..Roberto Mancini's men were back to their form of 2011 tonight and, as well as closing the gap to five points on their neighbours at the top of the table, their goals mean their goal difference is now three-goals superior to United.

36. 2146:

Wigan chairman Dave Whelan on BBC Radio 5 live after his side's priceless victory over Manchester United: "I thought first half we totally and utterly dominated United. In the second half they were having a real go at us. But our lads fought to the death. On my way to the match I thought our luck had to change sometime against United. We've got it tonight and we deserve it."

37. 2146:

The digital clock at the DW Stadium shows that there were a sum total of nine minutes 41 seconds of injury time. Despite all that, United could not mount one of those trademark irresistible sieges of the Wigan goal. Plenty of possession, but no killer punch from the visitors.

38. 2143:
BBC Radio 5 live's Pat Nevin at Manchester City v West Brom

"The pressure may come back on Manchester City after tonight. Can they cope with that?"

39. 2142:

Hugs and pumping fists at the DW Stadium as Wigan climb out of the bottom three for the first time since September. Pretty similar scenes at the Etihad where a decent number of fans have hung around to see the result pop up on the big screens. Five points the difference at the top, with the Manchester derby to come on 30 April. Could they? Really?

40.
FULL-TIME- Wigan 1-0 Man Utd
41.
FULL-TIME- Wolves 0-3 Arsenal
42. 2139:

Wolves' Nenad Milijas brings a save out of Wojciech Szczesny, but it is all too little, too late...

43.
FULL-TIME- Man City 4-0 West Brom
44. 2136:

Roberto Martinez is making a Harry Enfield-esque 'calm down' gesture to his team as the clock ticks past 90. His face tells a bit of a different story...

45. 2134:

As things stands, the gap at the top between leaders Manchester United and Manchester City will be down to five points, while Wigan and QPR will both be clear of the relegation zone. Bolton, Blackburn and Wolves are set to occupy the bottom three spots.

46. 2133:
GET INVOLVED

Neal Collins on Twitter: "The drama. Rooney off. Ref poised, Wigan moving bus into position...still 1-0. This is football at it's best."

Edward Parker on Twitter: "QPR making a mockery of Swansea. This is not the same side who embarrassed Arsenal earlier in the year at the Liberty."

47. 2132:

Referee Neil Swarbrick looks to have got a decision spot on at Molineux, keeping schtum as Nenad Milijas slides in on Aaron Ramsey. Further inspection suggests the Serbian got a faint flick on the ball.

48. 2130:
GET INVOLVED

Omar, via text: "Wigan's goal comes from a corner which it never ever was. And then Man U are denied probably the most stone wall penalty I've seen this season. Yet we get the decisions? Unbelievable."

Rusty, via text: "No Scholes. No goals. No win!"

49. 2129:

Victor Moses has twice come close to doubling the lead for Wigan, first forcing a decent save from David de Gea before dragging a shot narrowly wide from a tight angle. Six minutes of injury time to go at the DW. Buckle in.

50.
BBC Sport's Chris Bevan at Manchester City v West Brom

It's all gone a bit quiet at the Etihad - and I suspect that, with this game won, City fans are now listening out for news of goals from the DW Stadium. We have already had one 'false alarm' of a second Wigan goal, which had home supporters here doing the Poznan. Mind you, City also scored twice more in quick succession so there was a lot of celebrating going on. The Baggies have had a couple of sniffs since but Roberto Mancini's men remain well on top.

51. 2128:
Nigel Adderley, BBC Radio 5 live, at Loftus Road

"Replays show Mackie was offside before he scored. QPR may believe they are due a break from the officials..."

52.
GOAL- QPR 3-0 Swansea - Akos Buzsaky (67 mins)

Mark Hughes's side can sniff 16th place as Akos Buzsaky rifles in a fine long-range effort from 20-odd yards. Still a tough run-in including Manchester City, Tottenham and Chelsea still to come for Hoops though.

53. 2123:
SUBSTITUTION

Wigan have replaced goalscorer Shaun Maloney with Conor Sammon. The new arrival was sent off by Phil Dowd in the reverse fixture, a decision subsequently overturned on review.

54. 2121:
GET INVOLVED

Arsenal fan Eddie Kuh on Twitter: "Le Boss, give Songinho a blank sheet of paper to write his figure. Honour it with a five-year contract extension this summer!"

Christian Reilly on Twitter: "I love Manchester City. As frustratingly unpredictable as we are, I love it. It's nothing short of masochism."

Ruu ‏on Twitter: "One thing is for sure - the Manchester derby is going to be one helluva match!"

55. 2121:

On at least one occassion, a rumour has swept the Etihad suggesting United had fallen further behind. Sadly for those City fans, the truth is that their rivals are cranking up the pressure in search of an equaliser at the DW Stadium.

56. 2119:
BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty at the DW Stadium

"Man Utd looked to have been denied a penalty there as Figueroa handled Jones's cross."

57. 2118:

Manchester United are in referee Phil Dowd's ear in the hope of getting a penalty, but there is nothing doing. It looked a decent shout as well with Maynor Figueroa getting in a tangle attempting to clear Phil Jones's cross and the ball thumping into an outstretched arm. Sir Alex Ferguson looks on bemused from the touchline.

58.
GOAL- Wolves 0-3 Arsenal - Yossi Benayoun (69 mins)

Alex Song breaks down the left and slips the ball to edge of the area, from where Yossi Benayoun finishes into the bottom left-hand corner with a precise finish. This game is well and truly over, one would suggest.

59.
GOAL- QPR 2-0 Swansea - Jamie Mackie (55 mins)

What a massive goal that could be in the Hoops' fight against the drop. Anton Ferdinand's pass picks out Jamie Mackie on the edge of the box and the striker turns neatly, picks his way past a Swans defender before his shot catches a helpful glance off Angel Rangel en route to the back of the net.

60. 2112:
SUBSTITUTION

Between those two City goals, Carlos Tevez trotted off to be replaced by Adam Johnson, and got a standing ovation from the City fans.

61. 2111:
Pat Nevin, BBC Radio 5 live, at the Etihad Stadium

"Tevez has been forgiven, as we always knew he would be. He couldn't really miss there - it was a fabulous pass from Aguero. Manchester City are looking for more goals - goal difference may be hugely important."

62. 2111:
GET INVOLVED

James, London, via text: "The fat lady seems to have caught a cold..."

63. 2110:
SUBSTITUTION

Sir Alex Ferguson makes another change - and it's Wayne Rooney hauled off. Winger Nani comes on in his place.

64. 2110:

Another moment of controversy for referee Phil Dowd. United defender Jonny Evans - who was booked in the first half - catches goalscorer Shaun Maloney with a late challenge which could easily be another caution. Nothing given.

65.
GOAL- Man City 4-0 West Brom - David Silva (64 mins)

It is like late 2011 all over again as City run riot and David Silva adds his name to the scoresheet. Sergio Aguero robs a West Brom midfielder and charges at a quaking West Brom rearguard before relaesing the Spaniard to clip a glorious finish over Ben Foster.

66. 2105:

Kevin Doyle comes close to pulling a goal back for Wolves but his header across goal is superbly saved in the Arsenal goal by Wojciech Szczesny.

67.
GOAL- Man City 3-0 West Brom - Carlos Tevez (61 mins)

It is a bit streaky, but they all count. Carlos Tevez's shot from Sergio Aguero's cut-back hits the deck and finds the net via a deflection off Nicky Shorey, but the Argentine has his first City goal since May. Cue muted celebrations.

68. 2104:
BBC Sport Chief Football Writer Phil McNulty at the DW Stadium

Manchester United have looked complacent and off the pace from the first whistle. Will Shaun Maloney's goal wake them up?

69. 2103:
SUBSTITUTION

As it stands at the moment, United's lead at the top of the table will be cut to five points. Title race back on? Sir Alex reacts by throwing on Danny Welbeck in place of Javier Hernandez.

70.
BBC Sport's Chris Bevan at Manchester City v West Brom

There is a real buzz about the Etihad now, with news that Manchester United are behind swiftly followed by Sergio Aguero putting their side 2-0 up. Wigan's goal meant Blues fans were making a right racket even before Aguero finished off a fine passing move and they have hardly sat down or shut up since.

71. 2102:

United look like they felt the rough side of Lady Luck on that opener after a bit of fortune against QPR at the weekend. Wigan's Jean Beausejour certainly seemed to get the final touch as he tussled with Phil Jones and the ball headed over the byeline.

72. 2100:
GET INVOLVED

Aman Sheth "Wigan score from a wrongfully awarded corner. Where are all those United-blasting cynics now!"

Lal Chadeesingh on Twitter: "Decisions even themselves out over the course of a season. Or match. Never a corner."

Aaron Willis ‏on Twitter: "Wigan have been playing well lately through this tough run and that's a goal they deserved."

73. 2059:

Former Manchester City boss Joe Royle, who signed QPR goalscorer Joey Barton as a teenager for the Blues, on BBC Radio 5 live: "He is a far better player than he is given credit for because of his past. There are lesser players then him who have played for England I think."

74.
GOAL- Man City 2-0 West Brom - Sergio Aguero (54 mins)

Samir Nasri and David Silva tip and tap their way up to the edge of the box, drawing in a mob of West Brom defenders which leaves Sergio Aguero free to squeeze home a shot from Nasri's pass. The chorus of Blue Moon, that had increased in volume with news of United going behind, just got a whole lot louder.

75.
GOAL- Wigan 1-0 Man Utd - Shaun Maloney (50 mins)

Now then. Shaun Maloney sweeps a lovely curling shot beyond the reach of David de Gea from the fringes of the penalty box after a neat short-corner routine with Jean Beausejour. Wayne Rooney perhaps could have done better closing down the former Celtic man.

76. 2054:

David Silva, who has been a little quiet in the opening half, snakes his way down the left flank and flips over a decent deep cross. Samir Nasri slashes a boot at it, but his volley ripples the wrong side of the net from a City point of view.

77. 2050:
GET INVOLVED

Raj Shah on Twitter: "Arsenal getting too complacent and need to put Wolves to the sword in the second half. More goals please RVP."

Nathan Emoike ‏on Twitter: "Come on Arsenal let's get a few more goals. It feels like a charity match."

78. 2050:
KICK-OFF

As the teams trot down the tunnel at Loftus Road, we are back under way in all three of the 1945 kick-offs.

79. 2049:
SUBSTITUTION

Sir Alex Ferguson was not at all happy in that first half and makes a change at the break. Tom Cleverley - who was on loan with Wigan last season - comes on for Manchester United in place of Ashley Young. United out very early for this second half, the hairdryer no doubt ringing in their ears.

80. 2049:

BBC Match of the Day's Conor McNamara: "It's been a nervy night at Loftus Road but Joey Barton has scored at the perfect time to give the home side the lead. How will Swansea respond?"

81.
HALF-TIME- QPR 1-0 Swansea
82.
GOAL- QPR 1-0 Swansea - Joey Barton (45 mins)

Joey Barton enjoyed that one. The captain is back in the side after missing the trip to Manchester United and marks his comeback by crashing a low shot past Michel Vorm. The Swans failed to clear the hosts' free-kick after Neil Taylor had clambered all over Bobby Zamora to give them the chance to punt the ball into the box.

83. 2044:

Perhaps just worth pointing out how things stand at the bottom right now. Wolves are in massive trouble, seven points from safety, but Wigan and QPR are currently both outside the bottom three, on goal difference from Bolton.

84. 2044:
GET INVOLVED

Pete Jones on Twitter: "Think Sir Alex has got this one tactically wrong. Giggs, Valencia, Young in a midfield away at a team like Wigan?"

Jack McDonald on Twitter: "Has Javier Hernandez even touched the ball this half?! Shocking..."

Mark Hands on Twitter: "Wigan fans don't you feel cheated by your team? If they can play this well now, why couldn't they have done it all season?"

85. 2043:
GET INVOLVED

Dave, via text: "Re Joe 2026. I'm a neutral but missed the rule change that says 'little Wigan' can simply push a goalie into the net."

86. 2043:
BBC Sport's Chris Bevan at the Etihad Stadium

News of Manchester United's first-half let off at Wigan reaches the City fans in front of me. They can afford a wry smile as they talk about their neighbours being "jammy again" with the Latics having that goal disallowed but talk quickly changes to how the recent refereeing decisions going in favour of their title rivals has been "a disgrace". The same could arguably be said about some of City's recent performances too but Roberto Mancini's men are looking a lot more like their old selves here, and are good value for their lead at the break.

87. 2042:

Just seen a replay of the goal that wasn't. You have to feel a little sorry for Victor Moses. The Wigan youngster is through a full knee slide and is posing arms aloft before he realises that his 'opener' is to be chalked off. To add insult, it looks like Manchester United's Jonny Evans has accidentally nudged Gary Caldwell into goalkeeper David de Gea to trigger the linesman's flag.

88.
BBC Sport Chief Football Writer Phil McNulty at the DW Stadium

"Expect scenes of verbal carnage in the Manchester United dressing room at half-time. Sir Alex Ferguson literally hopping mad on occasions. Wigan excellent so far and furious with the decision to disallow Victor Moses' goal."

89.
MOTD's Jonathan Pearce at Molineux

"Any hope of an upset at Molineux went west with Arsenal's two goals in 11 minutes. The Gunners are well in command, Wolves are despairing and heading for the relegation trap door."

90.
MOTD's Guy Mowbray at the Etihad Stadium

"It has been a very agreeable first half for Man City thanks to Sergio Aguero. They have had to patient since because despite having the best of the game they have not been able to add to the lead. Shane Long is all on his own and starved of possession up front for West Brom."

91. 2037:

Officials are getting their ear bent at both Molineux, where Neil Swarbrick departs to a chorus of boos, and the DW Stadium where Gary Caldwell is in animated discussion with linesman Dave Richardson. It looks to be a little bit one-sided though, as the assistant has the blinkers on, determinedly ignoring the Wigan defender.

92. 2035:
Chris Bevan, BBC Sport, at the Etihad

"The WBA fans are not quiet either, mind. They are singing 'Carlos Tevez, he eats when he wants,' at the portly Argentine."

93. 2035:
Phil McNulty, BBC Sport chief football writer at the DW Stadium

"Ferguson is bulding up nicely to a half-time explosion of anger. Manchester United very poor in first 40 minutes. Arms folded. Hands then in pockets. A little jig on the spot. Arms waving. Fingers pointing. Not a happy Fergie at all."

94.
HALF-TIME- Wolves 0-2 Arsenal
95.
HALF-TIME- Wigan 0-0 Man Utd
96. 2034:

First shot at the Wigan goal in about 20 minutes and it is ballooned wide and high by Wayne Rooney from the edge of the box. United have been pretty shabby in the first 45.

97.
HALF-TIME- Man City 1-0 West Brom
98. 2032:
GET INVOLVED

Josh, via text: "Re 2022. Pot calling the kettle black right there. Keep playing beautifully you Swans!"

99. 2032:

Carlos Tevez has not won over the whole of the Manchester City crowd by a long shot. Still a few whistles and jeers creeping in when he gets on the ball.

100. 2030:

QPR skipper Joey Barton has just skied an effort high over the bar from the edge of the area soon after Jamie Mackie spurned a great chance to put the hosts ahead against Swansea. Someone needs to take this game by the scruff of the neck and add some much needed quality.

101. 2029:
Chris Bevan, BBC Sport, at the Etihad

"WBA keeper Ben Foster makes a hash of high ball and concedes a corner. City fans sing 'England's number five' at him. Harsh."

102. 2029:
YELLOW CARD

Wolves' Kevin Doyle has had his name taken by the referee Neil Swarbrick for a foul on Mikel Arteta. Not a lot of fight in the hosts, who are six points adrift at the bottom.

103. 2027:

Infostrada Sports on Twitter: "Wayne Rooney (22) and Javier Hernandez (10) have scored more combined Premier League goals than the whole Wigan team this season (30 goals)."

104. 2026:

West Brom have managed to stem the flow of Manchester City attacks somewhat, breaking up the hosts' attacks and getting their foot on the ball. Mario Balotelli doesn't look like he is that enthralled by it all in the posh seats.

105. 2026:

Nishal KS, Nottingham, via text: "Man Utd have got nothing on this Wigan side. Fantastic display by the men in blue."

Sam, Manchester, via text: "Re 2020. What do you mean it looked soft? De Gea was pushed into the goal, you would be applauding a great decision if it went the other way."

Joe, a disgruntled Wigan fan, via text: "So yet again the officials decide little Wigan aren't allowed to beat the top four!"

106. 2026:

BBC Radio 5 live pundit, and former Liverpool midfielder, Jan Molby at Molineux: "Arsenal are in total control. They're just knocking the ball around and it's a case of saying to Wolves 'how fit are you and can you stay with us?' It's one-way traffic."

107. 2025:

It's not been a good week for Wigan with officialdom. They were the victims of a late, offside winner against the Chelsea at the weekend which brought an apology from refs' chief Mike Riley.

108. 2022:

There's not an awful lot going on at Loftus Road and the QPR fans are getting a little bit bored. They're taking their frustration out on the visitors, with chants of 'Boring, boring Swansea," heard around the ground.

109. 2022:

BBC Radio 5 live pundit, and former Wigan midfielder, Kevin Kilbane at the DW Stadium: "Wigan have started this game so well and are not allowing Manchester United any time to get possession. When they do get the ball Wigan are rattling into the tackles."

110.
BBC Sport Chief Football Writer Phil McNulty at the DW Stadium

"Wigan's players, management and fans furious after Victor Moses' goal was ruled out. Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is visibly unhappy, to put it mildly, with his team's performance so far. Wigan have been much the better side."

111. 2021:

West Brom's Keith Andrews has a shot from distance but a deflection off Joleon Lescott takes the sting out of it and play sweeps down the other end and Micah Richards comes close to doubling Manchester City's lead. Craig Dawson gets back to block on the line after the City defender had beaten keeper Ben Foster.

112. 2020:
DISALLOWED GOAL

Massive confusion and then more than a little anger at Wigan as the hosts' celebrations are cut short by a linesman's flag. Victor Moses nodded into the net from a corner and there seemed little wrong with it. Referee Phil Dowd rules it out though after his assistant Dave Richardson flags for an obstruction on David de Gea by Gary Caldwell. Looked pretty soft from here.

113. 2018:

Opta Joe on Twitter: "Robin van Persie has scored 45 goals in his last 50 Premier League appearances. Smashing."

114. 2018:

Infostrada Sports on Twitter: "Van Persie scored against his 17th different Premier League club this season, equalling the record previously set by Andy Cole, Alan Shearer and Ian Wright. The only teams Van Persie has not scored against are Manchester City, Fulham and, of course, Arsenal."

115. 2018:
GET INVOLVED

Dean, via text: "Does anybody else feel really bad for Terry Connor? It should be the owners who should be getting the blame here instead of using Connor as their scapegoat. Bad club management. And to think they started the season so well..."

116. 2015:
Chris Bevan, BBC Sport, at the Etihad

"David Silva has seen lots of the ball but his corners remain dreadful. I can't remember the last time one beat the first man."

117. 2015:

Sir Alex Ferguson has called Wayne Rooney to the touchline for a third time already in this match. After being sent away with his ears warmed on the first two occassions, it looks like the striker may have been given some tactical advice to pass on this time. United still labouring.

118. 2013:
YELLOW CARD

Manchester United's Jonny Evans is shown a yellow card for bringing down Wigan's Franco Di Santo on the halfway line. Referee Phil Dowd then also books Di Santo for appealing for the card to be shown.

119. 2013:

Decent start by the struggling hosts at Loftus Road as Akos Buzsaky flashes a volley narrowly wide of the Swansea post. Early promise for Mark Hughes, who knows his QPR side must win to ease the pressure at the bottom.

120. 2012:

David Silva has a superb chance to make it 2-0 to Manchester City after being put through on goal by a superb Micah Richards pass but Ben Foster is quick off his line to ward off danger. City come again, though, and Sergio Aguero has a shot from close range saved by the West Brom keeper. West Brom yet to really threaten as the home side dominate.

121. 2012:

Wolves almost had something to cheer in anger there as Christophe Berra nods wide, via a deflection off Johan Djourou, from the set-piece. Maybe the home fans will reconsider whether Terry Connor did get it right with that switch?

122. 2010:

Big, ironic cheers from the home fans after Wolves win a corner at Molineux. It could be a long evening for them.

123. 2009:

Lovely little link-up play between David Silva and Carlos Tevez as the latter flicks a backheel to the former but the angle for a shot is too acute and Ben Foster smothers Silva's effort with ease.

124. 2007:

United have been well out of sorts so far, but click into gear to fashion a decent chance. Ryan Giggs and Michael Carrick play a one-two which completely cuts the Wigan defence open, but Giggs's shot from the right of the area takes a deflection into the side netting. Wigan still well on top.

125. 2007:
GET INVOLVED

Ben Askins, via text: "I hope the Wolves players have lifejackets, because the floodgates have been opened."

126. 2006:

Mario Balotelli is in the building. The suspended striker is picked out by the cameras taking a keen interest in the buffet dinner in his executive box.

127. 2005:
GET INVOLVED

Sean Sonnekus ‏ "If there's one team you don't want to get a red card against it's Arsenal right now. Passing masters and will carve through."

Michael Blakely on Twitter: "Wolves are going down. Don't think Bassong cares, he'll be back at Spurs next season. No commitment to the cause."

Darren H on Twitter: "Wolves might as well get in their cars and head home already. No way back."

128. 2004:
Phil McNulty, BBC Sport chief football writer at the DW Stadium

"Wigan making a decent start here. Forcing corners and keeping possession well."

129. 2004:
SUBSTITUTION

The Wolves fans were not shy in telling Terry Connor that he doesn't know what he is doing as the caretaker boss replaced midfielder David Davis with defender Chistophe Berra between those two goals.

130.
BBC Sport's Chris Bevan at Manchester City v West Brom

Sergio Aguero's early goal has certainly helped their mood but City fans are in good voice in the Manchester rain tonight, first showing their backing for their manager Roberto Mancini with some concerted chanting of the Italian's name, swiftly followed by a first rendition of 'We're not really here'. Those empty stands have largely filled up now, in case you were wondering, and City are well on top.

131. 2002:

Carlos Tevez's first sight of goal. He is teed up by fellow Argentine striker Sergio Aguero on the edge of the area but slices his shot high and wide. City well on top at the Etihad.

132. 2001:

It's been all Wigan at DW Stadium. They've been brilliant so far, and James McCarthy has gone close with a rasping drive from 25 yards which United keeper David de Gea has to turn over the top

133. 1950:
Phil McNulty, BBC Sport chief football writer at the DW Stadium

"Wigan fans jeering as referee Phil Dowd's name is read out. He controversially sent off Conor Sammon at Old Trafford earlier this season."

134. 1954:
Pat Nevin, BBC Radio 5 live, at the Etihad Stadium

"Aguero's goal wasn't exactly Hatem Ben Arfa (of Newcastle), but it was a very good goal indeed. But I think the defenders should have closed him down much, much quicker than they did."

135.
GOAL- Wolves 0-2 Arsenal - Theo Walcott (11 mins)

Arsenal's red-hot form and Terry Connor's miserable time in the Wolves dug-out comes together in a explosive early mix. Theo Walcott swaps passes with Robin van Persie fired low into the net to double the lead.

136.
GOAL- Wolves 0-1 Arsenal - Robin van Persie (9 mins)

Dutchman Robin van Persie impudently dinks the spot-kick down the middle as Wayne Hennessey flings himself off to the left. Cheeky, cheeky stuff. Very cheeky indeed.

137.
RED CARD- Wolves defender Sebastien Bassong

Theo Walcott plays a one-two with Robin van Persie and is racing down on goal when he is brought down by Sebastien Bassong, who is shown a straight red card.

138.
PENALTY to Arsenal
139.
MOTD’s Conor McNamara at Loftus RoadQPR v Swansea (2000 BST)

"The most recent meeting between these sides at Loftus Road was on Boxing Day last season when QPR won 4-0 , and while both sides went on to win promotion it is the visitors who have settled in the better. Swansea continue to win plaudits with their passing game, while just keeping 11 men on the field would be a bonus for QPR - they have received seven red cards this season."

140.
GOAL- Man City 1-0 West Brom - Sergio Aguero (6 mins)

City are up and running and it is Sergio Aguero, who has been copping a bit of criticism from some parts recently, who finds the bottom corner with a low shot past Ben Foster after holding off the challenge of Keith Andrews.

141. 1950:

Carlos Tevez neatly lays the ball off to David Silva via that barrel chest. Fans still trickling into the Etihad Stadium.

142. 1949:

Injured Arsenal and England midfielder Jack Wilshere on Twitter: "Come on then Gooners let's get three points!"

143. 1949:

Steve Kean is at Loftus Road, notebook at the ready, with his Blackburn side facing Swansea at the weekend.

144. 1948:
GET INVOLVED

Chris, north west London, via text: "Re 1937. To be fair to City fans (which I'm not very often), all this football is great for the MOTD viewer, but pretty hard on the wallets of the supporters who have to shell out 40 odd quid plus travel for every match. Austerity."

Benji, an Arsenal fan, London, via text: "What does Oxade-Chamberlain have to do to get a place in the Arsenal first team? It's madness!!"

Josh, via text: "Welbeck's finishing has been poor lately and we missed too many good opportunities against QPR. Hernandez is the perfect solution - 4-0 United."

145. 1947:
KICK-OFF

Wigan against Manchester United and Wolves against Arsenal are a little tardy, but we are all up and running now.

146. 1946:
KICK-OFF

Under way on time at the Etihad Stadium, still waiting on the other two...

147. 1946:

There has been a late change to the referee at the Etihad Stadium where Lee Mason, who gave the penalty against Shaun Derry at Old Trafford at the weekend, has been replaced by Kevin Friend. Family reasons behind the switch apparently.

148.
Wolves v Arsenal (1945 BST)

Wolves boss Terry Connor says there is no dressing room unrest after Roger Johnson and Wayne Hennessy squared up to each other in the recent defeat by Bolton. "It is a strong dressing room with some characters in there," he said. "They are not all going to have the same opinion." Arsenal midfielder Yossi Benayoun is wary of a repeat of the QPR loss on 31 March. "Teams who fight for their lives in the league, it's harder to play against them," he said.

149.
MOTD's Jonathan Pearce at MolineuxWolves v Arsenal (1945 BST)

"Arsenal have won eight of their last nine Premier League games while Wolves haven't kept a Premier League clean sheet in seven months and no side with their points tally at this stage has escaped Premier League relegation. They already look doomed whatever happens in this one. But Arsenal must make sure they're not wounded by a cornered beast."

150. 1943:

Scarves unknotted at Molineux among the fans, definite British Summer Time feel to the footy at this time of year...

151.
Wigan v Man Utd (1945 BST)

Wigan Athletic's recent improvement has delighted manager Roberto Martinez - but he knows even better will be required to stop Manchester United as he said: "Against Manchester United you have to be perfect and we know now we can be perfect against these sides."

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes his squad's togetherness has played a vital part in establishing an eight-point lead at the top of the table, saying: "The unity and spirit you get when players stay together is now coming through."

152.
BBC Sport Chief Football Writer Phil McNulty at the DW StadiumWigan v Man Utd (1945 BST)

Vastly-contrasting priorities at the DW Stadium. Manchester United are aiming to protect an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League while Wigan Athletic - stinging from the injustice of their defeat at Chelsea on Saturday - will try to move out of the bottom three.

153.
Man City v West Brom (1945 BST)

'Never say never'. That is the philosophy of Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini. His side may trail Manchester United by eight points with six games to go, but until it is mathematically over, the Italian will not be throwing the towel in. 'We need only to continue to win because we need to do the maximum points that we can do and after we will see what's happening at the end of the season,' said Mancini. West Brom manager Roy Hodgson is calling on his side to finish strongly after effectively securing survival on Saturday. 'We are not in a relaxed frame of mind at all,' claimed Hodgson.

154. 1938:
MOTD's Guy Mowbray at the Etihad StadiumMan City v West Brom (1945 BST)

"How will Manchester City's mood be three days on from being written off as title winners? A win over West Brom coupled with Manchester United losing at Wigan and the gap is down to five points to bring hope again. Not impossible - but it seems unlikely. What a contrasting few days it has been for West Brom. A first win in five games all but guarantees safety. The first goal of the game will be important to the atmosphere of the night. If the Baggies bag first in this one, the Blue Moon might well disappear behind darkening clouds."

155. 1937:

Ten minutes till the off in three out of tonight's four kick-off and the stands are still pretty sparsely populated at the Etihad Stadium. Is enthusiasm for this title scrap waning amongst the City faithful?

156. 1933:
GET INVOLVED

Paul Bennion on Twitter: "Re 1923. I think Hodgson said I'll give you a quid for Balotelli."

Deepak on Twitter: "Two former Inter managers at the Etihad."

157. 1933:
GET INVOLVED

Nick, London, via text: "I'm a bit worried about Ramsey replacing Rosicky in the Arsenal midfield tonight; arguably he's been the key figure in Arsenal's recent resurgence."

158. 1932:
LINE-UPS

Wolverhampton: Hennessey, Zubar, Stearman, Bassong, Ward, Kightly, Henry, Davis, Jarvis, Edwards, Doyle. Subs: De Vries, Ebanks-Blake, Fletcher, Johnson, Berra, Milijas, Forde.

Arsenal: Szczesny, Sagna, Djourou, Vermaelen, Andre Santos, Arteta, Song, Walcott, Ramsey, Benayoun, van Persie. Subs: Fabianski, Rosicky, Park, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Squillaci, Jenkinson, Chamakh.

Referee: Neil Swarbrick (Lancashire)

159. 1930:
Wolves v Arsenal (1945 BST)

Wolves make two changes to the side which lost at Stoke. David Davis and Kevin Doyle come into the side instead of Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Stephen Fletcher. Laurent Koscielny is suspended for Arsenal so Johan Djourou replaces the centre-back, while Andre Santos and Aaron Ramsey come in for Kieran Gibbs and Tomas Rosicky.

160. 1929:

At the end of February Tottenham were sitting on a 10-point lead over Arsenal with boss Harry Redknapp looking to lord it over his side's neighbours in the big smoke. Now Arsenal fans are working out where the five wins they need to ensure another 'St Totteringham's Day' will come from. Wolves away is probably one they quite fancy...

161. 1927:

As well as bragging rights in the north west, there is a bit of bother that needs ironing out in London town.

162. 1923:
GET INVOLVED

Andrew Walters on Twitter: "Mancini is a fantastic manager and will, unfortunately, guide City to some major honours. From a United fan."

163. 1923:

Roy Hodgson and Roberto Mancini are sharing a long conversation in the tunnel at the Etihad. The West Brom boss appears to be doing most of the talking, not that his Italian counterpart seems to mind. Whatever Roy is saying it's pretty funny.

164. 1923:
BBC Radio 5 live's Pat Nevin at Manchester City v West Brom

"I think there are teams who believe they can win the league and those who know they can win the league. Manchester United are the latter. I don't think as a group City showed they have that. United are efficient when they have to be."

165. 1922:

Prepare yourselves for some ropey maths and a leap of imagination. Manchester United could, in theory, move 11 points clear of Manchester City tonight. If the leaders maintained that lead, the first match they would start as 2011-12 champions would be at the Etihad Stadium on 30 April. Guard of honour anyone?

166. 1919:
BBC Sport's Chris Bevan at Manchester City v West Brom

"If City are runners-up (likely), it will be their best finish since they were second in top flight in 1976/77."

167.
QPR v Swansea (2000 BST)

Having been rested for the game at Manchester United to avoid a 10th booking, Joey Barton returns to captain QPR. Bobby Zamora is also back in the starting line-up after a virus. Swansea, looking to avoid a fourth straight defeat, recall Scott Sinclair and Danny Graham.

168.
LINE-UPS- QPR v Swansea (2000 BST)

QPR: Kenny, Onuoha, Ferdinand, Hill, Taiwo, Mackie, Barton, Diakite, Buzsaky, Taarabt, Zamora. Subs: Cerny, Gabbidon, Campbell, Bothroyd, Young, Smith, Wright-Phillips.

Swansea: Vorm, Rangel, Caulker, Williams, Taylor, Sigurdsson, Britton, Allen, Routledge, Graham, Sinclair. Subs: Tremmel, Tate, Dyer, Monk, McEachran, Moore, Gower.

Referee: Lee Probert (Wiltshire)

169. 1920:

They are raring to go at Loftus Road. Team sheets have been submitted a full 45 minutes ahead of kick-off. Here they are...

170.

BBC Radio 5 live pundit, and former Wigan midfielder, Kevin Kilbane at the DW Stadium: "Looking at the stats, there's no way there can be any other result than a Manchester United win. But Wigan have played with more confidence in recent weeks, especially at home, so they might fancy their chances. But realistically I cannot see anything other than an away win."

171. 1916:
GET INVOLVED

Justin, via text: "Come on Wigan! Martinez at the helm makes them such a likeable club."

Morbs, via text: "Judgement day for Queens Park Rangers tonight. A win will go some way to vindicating the decision to bring in Sparky and Project Survival."

172.
Man City v West Brom (1945 BST)

The big news for Manchester City is that Carlos Tevez starts up front for the first time since last September. He comes in for the suspended Mario Balotelli. David Silva also starts in place of James Milner. Midfielder Yaya Toure, who picked up an injury at Arsenal on Sunday, is replaced by Nigel De Jong. The only other change sees Micah Richards in for Pablo Zabaleta at right-back.

West Brom make five changes from the team that beat Blackburn 3-0. Two of those are enforced with Nicky Shorey and Simon Cox replacing the injured Liam Ridgewell and Chris Brunt. Defender Craig Dawson makes his first Premier League start in three months in place of Gareth McAuley, while Paul Scharner and Shane Long are recalled in place of Peter Odemwingie and Marc-Antoine Fortune.

173.

West Brom: Foster, Jones, Dawson, Olsson, Shorey, Cox, Mulumbu, Scharner, Andrews, Dorrans, Long. Subs: Daniels, Tchoyi, McAuley, Odemwingie, Hurst, Fortune, Roofe.

Referee: Kevin Friend (Leicestershire)

174. 1915:
Wigan v Man Utd (1945 BST)

Wigan are unchanged from the side beaten in controversial style at Chelsea over the weekend as they look to take their first ever Premier League point off Manchester United. United switch one veteran for another in midfield, as Ryan Giggs starts in place of Paul Scholes while Javier Hernandez replaces Danny Welbeck in attack. Phil Jones comes in at right-back instead of Rafael.

177.
BREAKING TEAM NEWS- QPR v Swansea (2000 BST)

BREAKING TEAM NEWS- Wolves v Arsenal (1945 BST)

David Davis comes in from Stephen Fletcher for Wolves, while Aaron Ramsey comes in for Tomas Rosicky and Andre Santos replaces Kieran Gibbs for the visitors.

181. 1903:
BBC Sport's Chris Bevan at the Etihad Stadium

"Manchester City's title bid might lie in tatters but Roberto Mancini uses his programme notes for tonight's game to promise Blues fans that his team are not giving up the fight. "Until the last week or so we did a fantastic job and we should continue to do a fantastic job for the last six games - it is important that we finish as strongly as we can," Mancini said. "I won one Serie A title with Inter Milan when we were five points behind, five games from the end. Everything can happen but clearly we need to start to win."

182.
BREAKING TEAM NEWS- Man City v West Brom (1945 BST)

West Brom have made five changes from the side that beat Blackburn 3-0 with Peter Odemwingie left out of the starting XI

183. 1859:

If there is half as much in the tonight's games as the one at Ewood Park yesterday, then we will be in for a busy one. It is a rare occurrence, but BBC 5 live commentator Alan Green was left a little lost for words amid the choas of Liverpool's late win over Blackburn. If you haven't already, have a little look at why the win meant so much to Liverpool subsitute goalkeeper Brad Jones, who was pressed into service following team-mate Doni's red card.

185. 1857:

Carlitos is back in the City starting line-up then. Whatever his previous tantrums and travels this season, the Argentine loves leading a one-man fight against what seems inevitable. Remember that West Ham final-day escape in 2007?

186.
BREAKING TEAM NEWS- Wigan v Man Utd (1945 BST)

Ryan Giggs, Phil Jones and Javier Hernandezstart for Manchester United while Wigan are unchanged from the side that lost to Chelsea.

187. 1849:

It is a night to keep a beady eye on the 'as it stands' table to the right of this page, especially for those whose sides are staggering around dangerously close to that gaping trapdoor to the Championship.

188.
BREAKING TEAM NEWS- Man City v West Brom (1945 BST)

Carlos Tevez starts a Manchester City game for the first time since 10 September, Nigel De Jong comes in for Yaya Toure in midfield.

189. 1846:

None of your mid-table, end-of-term larkabouts tonight. There are only four games but each one of them could have big implications at the business ends of the table. By 2200 BST we will be a little closer to the outcome of the race for the title, for third place and away from the dreaded drop. This is the roll call:

Man City v West Brom (1945 BST)

Wigan v Man Utd (1945 BST)

Wolves v Arsenal (1945 BST)

QPR v Swansea (2000 BST)

190. 1845:

The games just keep a'coming. They have been flashing past like dog years this Easter with tonight the last of six successive days of top-flight action. It is quite a little climax that the fixture computer has thrown up as well...
