Luton missed the chance to close ground in the race for a Blue Square Bet Premier play-off place after a goalless draw against Alfreton Town.

The result means they are three points behind fifth-placed York who drew 1-1 with struggling Newport.

Andre Gray had Luton's best first-half effort but his strike was well blocked by Alfreton keeper Jon Stewart.

Andre Boucaud had a latch chance for Luton but his stoppage-time header was well blocked by defender Theo Streete.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law told BBC Radio Derby:

Law happy with point against Luton

"A draw was a fair result. I think we more than held our own.

"In the second half we were possibly the better side, but I don't think it would have been fair on either side to have lost the game.

"We've come up against a big club with big players and budgets and, if I'm honest, I don't think there was much between the two teams."
