Goalkeeper Ross Atkins saved an injury-time penalty as Burton Albion scored late on to beat Morecambe.

Adam Bolder's 16-yard curler into the top corner put Burton ahead.

Calvin Zola set up full-back Aaron Webster for his 100th career goal from 12 yards, before Jordan Burrow's close-range strike closed the gap.

Danny Carlton headed Morecambe level but Chris Palmer's 22-yard free-kick proved to be the winner as Atkins saved Kevin Ellison's injury-time spot-kick.

Burton Albion caretaker manager Gary Rowett told BBC Radio Derby:

"I thought the penalty was dubious but I'm not going to talk too much about that.

"We still need to defend set-pieces better. I told them at half-time that it was like watching us two months ago.

"Any ball that comes into our box, we looked a bit susceptible, which we haven't done recently.

"But we kept going and we just felt that in the last 10 or 15 minutes we started to get into their half and keep the ball a little bit."

Morecambe manager Jim Bentley told BBC Radio Lancashire:

"I don't want to lose any game. You can go back to Swindon, maybe we deserved a point out of that game and I certainly think we deserved the same here.

"Burton have picked up of late under the caretaker managers that have come in.

"Both teams had a go and I don't think anyone can say it was a game where players are seeing the season out.

"Possession-wise we weren't too bad, but we just lacked a little bit in certain areas."
