Pools keeper Scott Flinders saved low to his right to keep out an angled drive from Clayton Donaldson in a first half bereft of clear-cut chances.

The hosts thought they had gone ahead when Luke James's shot was deflected in, but the linesman's flag denied them their fourth goal in nine games.

Toumani Diagouraga fired a gilt-edged chance wide for the Bees late on.
