Two-goal James Collins fired Shrewsbury into the League Two automatic promotion places with victory at Macclesfield.
Collins wriggled free in the area to bobble an effort into the far corner to put Graham Turner's men ahead.
Mark Wright drilled in a shot at the near post for 2-0, only for Arnaud Mendy to pull one back immediately to offer some hope.
Collins soon put paid to any hint of a comeback after exchanging passes with Wright and slotting in a cool finish.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM:
Macclesfield Town manager Brian Horton told BBC Radio Manchester:
"They opened us up quite a few times and they're a decent side.
"We got a great goal from Arnaud Mendy and then concede after what a minute? Where is the organisation?
"It's no good blasting them, because I think for a big percentage of the game they've giving everything.
"It looks like a bad defeat again and to lose 3-1, it really disappoints me."
