Torquay United's march towards League One continued with their sixth win in eight games as they beat Accrington Stanley at Plainmoor.
Rene Howe's left-footed strike was the difference between the two sides as the striker capitalised on good work by Ryan Jarvis.
The Gulls could have made it a lot easier for themselves had Mark Ellis converted two good chances.
The defender hit the bar and volleyed just over in the second half.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Torquay United manager Martin Ling told BBC Radio Devon:
"It's getting to the stage of the season where performances are not as good as they have been, the players are looking nervy and edgy, but seem to be able to do the job when needed.
"I thought it might get away from us, especially when we missed the two gilt-edged chances.
"We needed to impose our tempo on them and I think we did that in the second half.
"We're carrying injuries, there are four players in the starting 11 that are not training at all times."
Accrington Stanley manager Paul Cook told BBC Radio Lancashire:
"We played really well today and, for long spells, I thought we were the better team.
"We had some really good performances and it was on the back of really good support as well.
"We never accept getting beaten. It's part and parcel of the game but you should never be pleased when you get beaten.
"But as a manager, if you play like that, you'll win a lot more than you lose."
