Dagenham and Redbridge survived a late scare to pick up a vital win over Port Vale as both sides are battling to stay in League Two.

Vale saw Marc Richards and Louis Dodds denied by away goalkeeper Chris Lewington early on, while Medy Elito struck a post for the Daggers.

Micky Spillane rifled home from six yards to grab the decisive goal.

The hosts had a chance to level when Charlie Wassmer fouled Tom Pope, but Lewington saved Richards' penalty.
