Clayton Donaldson's first goal in 12 matches helped Brentford end a run of three defeats as they beat Rochdale.
Toumani Diagouraga put the Bees ahead when he followed up to convert after Donaldson's shot had hit the post.
Rochdale's Stephen Jordan shot over from close range, before Brentford's Karleigh Osborne had a header cleared off the line by Temitope Obadeyi.
But Donaldson sealed the victory when he headed in from six yards following a Sam Saunders cross from the left wing.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Brentford manager Uwe Rosler told BBC London 94.9:
"I think we're all a little bit relieved after three defeats.
"After Clinton arrived on Friday I think the whole spirit went a little bit up.
"It was a very good team effort today, a hard-working performance and a deserved three points. I'm very happy.
"After the first goal we got better, we pressed them and we kept them away."
Rochdale manager John Coleman told BBC Radio Manchester:
"They've won the game without getting out of bed which is disappointing for a team who are fighting for their life.
"We were poor today, there's no disguising the fact we were and I feel for the fans that have travelled.
"You over to applaud them at the end of the game and they don't want to look at you and you can understand why
"We never really hurt them and we were toothless to be honest today."
