Goals from Lloyd Dyer and Ben Marshall saw 10-man Leicester beat Hull to keep their play-off hopes alive.

The visitors went ahead when Matty Fryatt clipped a neat finish over Kasper Schmeichel from eight yards.

But Dyer drilled an equaliser into the bottom corner and straight from the restart Marshall fired an unstoppable 25-yard strike into the top corner.

Neil Danns was sent off for a challenge on Paul McKenna and Hull pressed forward, but Leicester held on.

It was a fourth straight home Championship win for Nigel Pearson's men against his former club.

For Hull, this was a further blow to their own play-off chances - Nicky Barmby's men have won just one of their last eight league matches.

They could not have hoped for a better start as midfielder Tom Cairney picked out Fryatt and the striker beat a sprawling Schmeichel.

Corry Evans then lashed a 25-yard shot wide and Josh King forced Schmeichel into a fine save with an angled drive from inside the box.

But two goals in as many minutes turned the match on its head.

Leicester full-back Lee Peltier played the ball inside from the right to the edge of the area and Dyer fired in a low shot first time.

The Foxes then surged straight back down the field from the restart and when David Nugent slipped the ball to Marshall 25 yards from goal, the winger unleashed an unstoppable shot past Vito Mannone.

Leicester were dealt a blow 12 minutes after half-time when Danns was shown a straight red card for a dangerous tackle on McKenna.

Hull went straight on the front foot and Andy Dawson's corner was headed against a post by Jack Hobbs with Schmeichel beaten.

At the other end, Danny Drinkwater's angled drive was well saved by Mannone before substitute Sol Bamba rattled the post with a venomous strike from 35 yards.

Dyer drove a 25-yard effort inches past the post before Hull defender Liam Rosenior fired a long-range shot straight at Schmeichel.

Leicester assistant manager Craig Shakespeare:

"We went a goal down and showed great character and moral fibre to come back. Then when we went down to 10 men we had to defend in numbers.

"But we restricted them to one chance when they hit a post, but we also created good chances by hitting them on the counter.

"This division has the habit of throwing up surprise results. A lot can happen before the end of the season. I think there will still be a position available before the last game."

Hull manager Nicky Barmby:

"I didn't think we were good enough to win the game. We scored early on but didn't get our flowing game going.

"We were left rocking by Leicester getting back at us so quickly. All credit to Leicester, they are a difficult side to breakdown."
