Respect fans' drinking culture - Sir Dave Richards

Premier League chairman Sir Dave Richards says that the 2022 World Cup hosts Qatar must learn to respect English fans' drinking culture.

The sale of alcohol is severely restricted in the Middle Eastern country, but Richards argues fans may boycott the tournament unless beer is made freely available.

In a conference in Doha he discusses a culture in England of 'going for a pint', and believes "there has to be a happy medium" if fans from England and Northern Europe are to enjoy themselves in 2022.

He also mentions how Fifa awarded the 2018 World Cup to Russia despite them giving England the impression "we had a chance".

Richards has also apologised to Fifa and Uefa for comments made off-camera earlier in the conference that the two organisations had "stole" the game that England had given the world.
