Jack Byrne scored twice as Kidderminster thrashed Braintree to end a run of three consecutive defeats.

Ben Wright put the hosts ahead with a curled shot from inside the box but Tom Marshall levelled before half-time, firing in from the edge of the area.

Byrne gave Harriers the lead soon after the break when he volleyed in Dave Hankin's half-cleared cross.

Malbon made it 3-1, directing a superb volley over Nathan McDonald before Byrne unleashed a 25-yard strike.

Harriers, who beat Braintree 5-4 in their previous meeting back in October, had lost their previous three games but victory means they are now six points off the play-off places.

Kidderminster assistant manager Gary Whild told BBC Hereford and Worcester:

"It's a difficult place to come to and you have only got to look at their recent results here.

"I think they beat Gateshead here comfortably last week so we knew it was going to be difficult.

"I thought the lads showed a lot of character today after we again conceded an early goal but we came back and got a deserved equaliser before half-time.

"In the second half the confidence was there again and, for me, there was only going to be one winner."
