14 March 2002: Former Preston boss David Moyes is unveiled as the new Everton manager during a news conference at Goodison Park and declares the Toffees as 'The People's Club' on Merseyside
16 March 2002: Moyes celebrates after winning his first game in charge with a 2-1 victory over Fulham, David Unsworth scoring after just 30 seconds
A rookie 16-year-old appears on the scene under Moyes in 2003, when striker Wayne Rooney starts his first senior season, going on to make 67 appearances for his boyhood club before a lucrative move to Manchester United in 2004
Before the start of the 2004-05 season, Moyes brings in Australian international striker Tim Cahill from Millwall. The 32-year-old has now become one of the club's most experienced players, appearing in over 216 matches and scoring 55 goals
10 August 2005: After finishing fourth in the Premier League the previous season, Everton head to Villarreal in the Champions League. However, their success is short-lived, going out of the competition 4-2 on aggregate
15 September 2005: After being demoted to the Uefa Cup following their Champions League exit, Everton are knocked out by Dinamo Bucharest who win 5–1 in Romania
August 2007: Everton break their transfer record with the signing of Yakubu for £11.25m from Middlesbrough
14 October 2008: David Moyes signs a new five-year deal at Goodison Park
19 April 2009: Everton take on Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley Stadium

30 May 2009: FA Cup final day sees Everton go face-to-face with Guus Hiddink's Chelsea
The result does not go Everton's way. Despite them taking the early lead through Louis Saha, goals from Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard are enough to take the trophy to Stamford Bridge
"I look back with a lot of pleasure in getting the team to the final. Chelsea were the better team on the day. Our team has made progress year on year and we'll try to keep that going," says Moyes after the defeat

11 February 2010: Everton come back fighting, getting one over their 2009 FA Cup victors with an FA Cup fourth-round win over then league-leaders Chelsea. Everton go on to finish seventh that Premier League season with 54 points

11 February 2012: Thanks to goals from Steven Pienaar and Denis Stracqualursi, Everton battle to their best win of the season so far - 2-0 against Chelsea - and the results see them comfortably settled in mid-table
David Moyes is the third longest-serving manager in the Premier League, behind Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsenal's Arsene Wenger, and he has established Everton as a Premier League mainstay. But what does the future hold for both him and the Merseyside club?
