Jonathan Forte's hat-trick helped Notts County to an eye-catching win at runaway leaders Charlton.

Alan Judge put County ahead with a 25-yard drive, before Forte grabbed three close-range efforts, the final one a header, to make it 4-0 at the break.

Bradley Wright-Phillips pulled one back acrobatically, before Scott Wagstaff powered in a header from six yards.

The Addicks' momentum fizzled out when Wright-Phillips had an appeal for a penalty turned down.

Charlton remain top of League One, but their lead is cut to 10 points by second-placed Sheffield United.

Notts County remain in sixth position, a point above Carlisle, who have two games in hand.

Charlton manager Chris Powell told BBC London 94.9:

"The first half performance is one I won't forget.

"We gave ourselves too much to do in the second half, I got the reaction I wanted after a few choice words but it was a bridge too far.

"I am not happy with the goals conceded at all. We didn't get the basics well, we weren't disciplined at all.

"We've been hurt by two defeats in a week, we conceded four goals that is what I am concerned about. For a top of the table team, that is not right."

Notts County manager Keith Curle told BBC Radio Nottingham:

"Sometimes you need to be brave to come to place like this and go out there and express themselves and I think today we did that.

"We know we've got players out there with the right armoury to cause problems for our opposition.

"You look at the first 45 minutes, that's dreamland that is everything that we've worked on, we're putting the belief in to the players.

"It's so pleasing seeing players playing with a smile on their face, we're creating a bounce and we're bouncing together."
