Wrexham maintained the pressure on Blue Square Bet Premier leaders Fleetwood Town with a comfortable victory over fellow promotion chasers Luton Town.

Danny Wright opened the scoring inside six minutes as the striker headed Mathias Pogba's cross into the net.

Midfielder Dean Keates doubled the lead with a 20-yard chipped strike into the top corner of Mark Tyler's goal.

Jake Speight also went close for Wrexham but Luton ended the game with 10 men after John Kissock was sent off.

Kissock was dismissed for violent conduct in injury-time at the end of the game following a challenge on Jay Harris.

Wrexham close the gap to five points on top-of-the-table Fleetwood but the Welsh side do have a game in hand.

Wrexham manager Andy Morrell told BBC Radio Wales:

"It was a big win and that is more like us.

"The lads were brilliant today, especially in the first-half, they were right at it and to get the early goal was good. I wouldn't say we coasted home but we had the better chances and could've had a couple more goals.

"I was really pleased with the lads and they should be pleased with themselves."

Luton Town manager Gary Brabin told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"I'm really disappointed and it wasn't an acceptable first-half performance.

"Some of the decisions we made defensively were not good enough.

"I thought the Wrexham front three out-muscled us, certainly in the first half, and we haven't been able to say that too often.

"Yes, we played some nice pretty football in patches. But that's not what we're about. We need some end product."
