Leeds have still to register a first win or goal under new manager Neil Warnock after they were held to a goalless draw at Yorkshire rivals Hull.

This was Warnock's third game in charge of the Whites and it provided further evidence that a late play-off charge may be beyond them.

Hull will feel they had enough chances to win the game but found Leeds goalkeeper Andy Lonergan in fine form.

The point does little to help Hull's own push for a play-off spot.

The Tigers are now unbeaten in eight but have drawn four of their last five league matches to leave them two points adrift of sixth-placed Birmingham.

Leeds, who came into this contest more in the second half, are three points worse off and have played two games more than many of the teams directly above them.

The home side dominated the first half, with winger Cameron Stewart firing an angled drive over before he and Corry Evans drew good saves from Lonergan with well-struck shots.

Leeds had their chances before the break, but Luciano Becchio fired an angled shot over the crossbar and Robert Snodgrass volleyed wide from 20 yards.

Snodgrass had another chance early in the second half, but he dragged his shot wide, though it served as a rallying call for his side to up their efforts.

Ross McCormack's cross-shot was saved by Vito Mannone and Adam Clayton's thumping effort was blocked by Hull substitute Josh King.

But in the end both sides were left frustrated and had to settle for a point.

Hull manager Nick Barmby:

"It (a lack of goals) might be a concern for everyone else, but it isn't for me. I believe in the lads - the forwards and midfielders - and I believe we'll come good.

"We played really well in the first half and we were the better team, but I'm a little bit disappointed we didn't win the game.

"I think if we had scored in the first half we would have gone on to win it, but full credit to their goalkeeper as he made three or four great saves.

"In the second half it was a bit too open for us, but they are a difficult team to play against."

Leeds manager Neil Warnock:

""We defended well and we just have to make better decisions in the final third. It would be good just to have a goal go in off someone's backside, and we definitely have to work on that part of our game.

"We have got to create more chances away from home. We didn't have clear-cut chances tonight, and we snatched at things a bit.

"But it is difficult to play on a rugby pitch. It's so lively and unpredictable, and I don't think it does Hull any favours either.

"I'm very pleased with the effort though, and we just need a bit more quality to get more points."
