Barnet midfielder Mark Byrne scored a fortuitous early free-kick to end his side's run of four successive defeats with a home draw against Rotherham.

Byrne's delivery eluded everyone to find the net and Scott McGleish almost added another, but could not quite reach Ricky Holmes' cross.

Rotherham sent Ben Pringle on as a sub and he levelled with a low shot.

The Millers had a chance to force a win when Paul Downing was sent off for a second yellow card but Barnet held out.

Barnet manager Lawrie Sanchez told BBC London 94.9:

"Never pleased with a point at home especially when you're in the lead but, as the situation developed in the afternoon, going down to 10 men again, to come out with a point, I'd say I am happy with that.

"You have to give credit to the players. They gave a great shift today from beginning to end.

"People have got to understand I am trying to juggle a small squad, and people should think a bit more about some of the stuff I hear said."

Rotherham United manager Andy Scott told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"I'm sick of saying the same things. It's easy to come from behind again, but I need men at this football club, I need winners. It's about time the winners in this team did something about the ones who don't want to be winners.

"I can only do so much. It takes the group to separate the weak from the strong and, until we do that, we're not going to win matches from the start.

"The first half we completely neglected the basics of the job. And we've given a lifeline to a side that have lost four games on the bounce a chance - and they held on at the end."
