Second-half goals from Michael Morrison and Bradley Wright-Phillips saw leaders Charlton beat Stevenage and extend their lead at the top of League One.

In front of 26,546 fans, Charlton's biggest post-war attendance in the third tier, Morrison fired them ahead with a superbly struck half volley.

Wright-Phillips doubled the lead with a right-footed strike that deflected off Stevenage defender Ronnie Henry.

The win means Charlton are now 14 points clear of third place.

The Addicks' closest rivals, Sheffield United, are 10 points behind but with two games in hand.

Wright-Phillips could have scored a hat-trick having gone close with a header and then seeing a lob over the impressive Stevenage keeper Chris Day go just wide.

Darius Charles could have put Boro in front before half-time but he missed the chance to head in when free in the area.

Morrison put the Addicks ahead soon after the break when he collected the ball outside the area before rifling into the net with his right foot.

Wright-Phillips doubled the lead soon after when his shot deflected off Henry into the net.

"It was a fantastic day all round for everyone, the five pounds initiative worked well today, and the atmosphere was like a few years back when I donned my boots here.

"Stevenage are a dogged team who have done well this year, and to be honest to my players they battled well and produced two good finishes.

"It was a fantastic second half by the players also and it was great for Bradley Wright-Phillips to finally score, we have been hoping it would hit his knee and go in to get some confidence, and today he delivered."
