Hibernian and Aberdeen battled out a goalless Scottish Premier League draw at Easter Road.

Isaiah Osbourne threatened for the hosts in the first half and the Dons' Mitchel Megginson had several efforts blocked before half-time.

The hosts claimed unsuccessfully for a penalty after the break, the ball appearing to hit Andrew Considine on the arm.

Sean O'Hanlon then survived claims he had handled in the Hibs box.

The result means Hibs move a point clear of bottom club Dunfermline, while Aberdeen have been overtaken by Dundee United on goal difference, the Taysiders moving up to seventh.

Both goalkeepers were called into action as Hibs' Isaiah Osbourne and Aberdeen's Mitchel Megginson fired in shots.

The pace of Megginson was causing Hibs problems and O'Hanlon made an important clearance before the midfielder almost found Scott Vernon with another delivery.

Hibs goalkeeper Graham Stack got down well to block an effort by Megginson after Rory McArdle had headed down Fraser Fyvie's cross.

Garry O'Connor's free-kick from 25 yards smacked off the Aberdeen wall and David Wotherspoon could not keep his header down as Hibs tried to find a way through.

Josh Magennis headed straight at Stack as the first half wound down and Andrew Considine headed wide of the Hibs goal early in the second half.

Considine was accused of using an arm as the Dons defended a corner, but referee Crawford Allan waved away the appeals.

At the other end, Clark Robertson's delivery was headed back across goal by Ryan Jack and O'Hanlon cleared, with referee Allan again unmoved by claims of handball.

Robertson was forced off with a knee injury and his replacement, Youl Mawene, blocked a Lewis Stevenson drive as the match wound down.
