Blackpool winger Matt Phillips fired two late goals to snatch all three points for the Seasiders at promotion rivals Cardiff City.

Cardiff took a second half lead when Joe Mason scored his seventh of the season with a close range finish from Don Cowie's knock-down.

Kevin Phillips' well-placed volley brought the scores level.

Then namesake Matt drilled home a low shot from the edge of the box and rolled in a one-on-one to win it.

Ian Holloway's side dominated much of the first half but couldn't find a way past David Marshall in the Cardiff goal.

Marshall was forced into fine saves from Nouha Dicko and Stephen Crainey to keep the scores level at the break.

Cardiff improved in the second half and went close to taking the lead through Kenny Miller, but the Scotland international curled his shot narrowly wide of the Blackpool goal from the edge of the area.

The deadlock was finally broken when Mason poked the home side in front with his seventh of the season on the hour mark.

The goal looked to have stretched Cardiff's unbeaten league run to seven games until substitute Kevin Phillips produced a moment of magic.

The 38-year-old striker, Blackpool's leading scorer this season, chested the ball in the air from a corner before calmly stroking home to bring the teams level.

Matt Phillips, a rumoured transfer target for Cardiff last month, then took centre stage.

The fleet-footed winger smashed home a low shot from the edge of the Cardiff box, after his first effort had been blocked.

The 20-year-old then collected a through-ball from substitute Roman Bednar before racing away from the tired Cardiff defence to finish coolly under Marshall.

The win moves Blackpool into fourth place in the Championship, while Cardiff remain one place ahead in third.
