Alfreton Town recruit defender Darran Kempson

Alfreton Town have signed central defender Darran Kempson on a deal until the end of the season.

Kempson, 27, was a free agent after having a two-year contract with Grimsby Town cancelled in December .

He was formerly captain at Blundell Park and has also played for Morecambe, Wrexham, Shrewsbury Town, Crewe Alexandra and Accrington Stanley.

Kempson is in the squad for Saturday's Blue Square Bet Premier fixture at promotion-chasing Luton Town.
