Kevin Pilkington's own goal gave Southport a share of the points against high-flying Luton.

Tony Gray put the hosts ahead with a 25-yard drive into the top corner, before Vinny Mukendi made it 2-0 with a low shot from 18 yards.

Danny Crow pulled a goal back with a header before Adam Watkins equalised with a shot from the edge of the area.

Aaron O'Connor looked to have completed the comeback from 18 yards, but Pilkington gave Southport a point.

Southport manager Liam Watson told BBC Radio Merseyside:

"We went into a 2-0 lead, and I don't know if that flattered us somewhat because Luton were playing some good football.

"Even when we were 2-2 at half time, I told the players they'd put a shift in and we looked like a good team.

"We've come away with a point and a point against Luton is always a good one."

Luton Town manager Gary Brabin told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"We're obviously disappointed we've dropped two points, that's a real kick in the teeth.

"Under normal circumstances coming here and getting a draw in better conditions wouldn't have been a bad result.

"When we're playing catch-up the way we are at the moment, it's disappointing.

"I thought we carved out two really great goals and they got us back in the game."
