Derby came from behind to beat Bristol City and end a six-game winless streak.

After a goalless first half, City took the lead through Martyn Woolford's low drive after he was set free by winger Albert Adomah.

But the Rams were level when Craig Bryson tapped home their first home goal in more than five and a half hours from Jamie Ward's pull-back.

And they won the game when Callum Ball latched on to a Paul Green attempt and shot under David James.

It was the 19-year-old substitute's first goal in senior football.

Bristol City keeper James was a virtual spectator in a dire first half, with his opposite number Frank Fielding only troubled a couple of times, keeping out Adomah's drive and Nicky Maynard's fizzing effort from distance.

And the visitors deservedly led when Woolford latched onto Adomah's defence-splitting pass and shot the ball under Fielding.

But eight minutes later the Rams were level when the lively Ward surged into the penalty area and cut the ball back for Bryson to convert.

That goal was Derby's first at home in 334 minutes - but it only took them nine minutes to add another when Ball took Green's attempted shot in his stride to fire past James, who should have done better.

Bristol City almost salvaged a point but Brett Pitman's back-heel went just wide.

Derby manager Nigel Clough: "We got in at 0-0 at half-time which is something we have failed to do in the last three home games.

"We went 1-0 down and then we showed a lot of character to come back. The crowd were restless and you saw the reaction of everyone when we got that goal.

"Once we got the goal, the crowd and everyone was up for the winner and it was nice when it came.

"It was a tactical change to bring Callum on. We needed more presence up there and I thought he gave us that. He got hold of the ball and did it very well."

Bristol City manager Derek McInnes: "We deserved to lose possibly through our own failings but not because Derby were better than us.

"Once we got ourselves in front we should have seen the game out. I thought we showed that quality for the goal and once we got ourselves in front we should have taken full advantage of that.

"The goals came from nothing. We deserved it because I felt both the Derby goals, we failed to do our jobs properly."
