Ex-Newcastle man Paul Robinson relishing Didcot chance
Didcot Town striker Paul Robinson is looking forward to the challenge of playing in the Southern League.
Robinson, 33, began his career at Newcastle United but has joined the Oxfordshire side after a spell with Chesham United in the Southern Premier.
He told BBC Radio Oxford : "I just want to play. It was a massive attraction to join up with [manager] Dave Mudge.
"The ground and training facilities here are great, especially for this level. I jumped at the chance to come."
Robinson, who was transferred from the Magpies to Wimbledon for £1.5 million in 2000, acknowledged that his early career exploits still follow him around.
"I always get plenty of stick but I always give it myself first.
"Some people might think, 'oh he's big-time, I can't go and talk to him,' but I'm an easy-going kind of guy and I don't take anything too seriously," he added.
The Railwaymen are currently 16th in Division One South and West of the Southern League.
