Doncaster Rovers have signed goalkeeper Carl Ikeme on a two-month loan from Wolves after he penned a new three-and-a-half-year contract at Molineux.

The 25-year-old will stay at the Keepmoat Stadium until 4 January.

Ikeme has already spent time on loan at Middlesbrough this season, keeping clean sheets in his last five appearances for the club.

He came through the youth ranks at Wolves but has started only 15 games in eight years with them.

Ikeme's previous deal at Wolves was set to expire at the end of the season but after seeing his progress checked by a series of injuries, the shot-stopper has set his sights on challenging Wayne Hennessey for a first-team place.

"I am still confident in my own ability and just want to keep moving forward and keep improving," Ikeme, who has had loan spells at Charlton, Sheffield United, QPR and Leicester over the past two seasons, told the Wolves website.

"I enjoyed my games at Middlesbrough and will try and do the same for Doncaster.

"But beyond that I want to try and push for a place at Wolves and wouldn't have signed this contract if I didn't.

"Short term I need to keep playing games but long term I want to try and play for Wolves."

Ikeme could make his Doncaster debut in the South Yorkshire derby at Barnsley on Saturday, 19 November.
