The in-form forward is in line for his senior debut in a friendly against Cyprus on Friday 11 November.
The 21-year-old told
BBC Radio Leeds:
"It's a huge honour and a privilege and probably hasn't sunk in right now.
"Nothing's a given just yet, nobody's said I'm going to play so I'm just looking forward to meeting the squad."
Rhodes has been in blistering form for both club and country, with 13 goals for Huddersfield in League One and another five in his last two games for Scotland Under-21s.
That form has earned him a first call-up to Craig Levein's squad for the friendly in Lanarca before rejoining the Under-21s as they prepare for a crucial European Championship qualifier away to the Netherlands on Monday 14 November.
"I don't actually know who's in the senior squad," Rhodes added.
Rhodes' goal-scoring record
2007-08 - 1 goal (Ipswich)
2008-09 - 9 goals (Rotherham & Brentford)
2009-10 - 23 goals (Huddersfield)
2010-11 - 22 goals (Huddersfield)
2011 - present - 13 (Huddersfield)
"Until I know that then I don't think I'll know who anybody in the squad is. I'll be very new and probably very quiet. But, saying that, it's just a huge honour to be part of it and then afterwards meeting up with the Under-21s again."
Oldham-born Rhodes qualifies for Scotland because he attended school in the country for more than five years while his English father, Andy, played in Scottish football.
Rhodes senior, who also turned out for Doncaster and Oldham, played for Dunfermline Athletic, St Johnstone and Airdrieonians and is now goalkeeping coach with Sheffield Wednesday.
"I feel incredibly Scottish, I spent more time in Scotland than I did in England.
"Those 10 years up in Scotland were very much part a foundation of what I am as a person today.
"At Huddersfield we have a bit of a Scottish allegiance with Scott Arfield, Gary Naysmith, Tommy Miller and Calum Woods and it's nice that the Scottish fans who watch the SPL week in, week out can have a little look and insight into Huddersfield Town."
