VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Macclesfield Town manager Gary Simpson told BBC Radio Manchester:
"A difficult game, with difficult conditions and a difficult team to play against.
"We're disappointed that we haven't played better, but sometimes you're only allow to play as well as they let you play.
"Whatever we seemed to try we were struggling a bit, and sometimes you've just got to hold your hands up."
Southend United manager Paul Sturrock told BBC Essex:
"Very pleasing, this is a hard place to come and a lot of teams have come here and left with no points.
"We bossed the show most of the first half, we got a bit sloppy when we scored our second goal for about 10-15 minutes, but in the end it was much deserved."
"They make it very hard for you, they play a lot of high balls, you've got to match all that. The players were very solid. I'm very pleased with every one of them."
