Stevenage crushed Sheffield Wednesday after scoring four goals in a stunning first-half display.
Craig Reid turned in the first after Richard O'Donnell had saved Ronnie Henry's shot before John Mousinho fired in an accurate low drive.
Michael Bostwick scored the third in off the post, before Lawrie Wilson's miscued effort found its way in.
Darius Charles rifled in the fifth, before Gary Madine tapped in for the Owls who saw Jermain Johnson sent off.
The substitute was given his marching orders for violent conduct to compound a miserable night for Wednesday boss Gary Megson.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Stevenage manager Graham Westley told BBC Three Counties Radio:
"It was important to bounce back from the weekend, we were disappointed at that in performance terms and obviously to drop the points.
"We thought long and hard, we talked long and hard and tried to get ourselves in the right frame of mind to do the job tonight.
"I thought the players worked very hard, first half I thought we played scintillating stuff and thoroughly deserved the victory."
Sheffield Wednesday manager Gary Megson told BBC Radio Sheffield:
"It was poor from minute one, right the way through to the last minute.
"They played with a lot more desire than us and passed the ball better than we did.
"It was a really bad night for us. That's the worst I have felt for a manager and I have been doing it a long time.
"It was really, really unacceptable. This was a disgrace."
