Two first-half goals proved crucial as Carlisle United secured all three points at Tranmere Rovers.

The visitors took the lead with a tap-in from Lee Miller after Rory Loy had helped on a cross by Matty Robson.

James Berrett scored Carlisle's second from the penalty spot after Dave Raven was penalised for tripping Loy.

Tranmere scored six minutes into the second half when Lucas Atkins pounced on a rebound after Adam Collin had punched away Robbie Weir's shot.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott tells BBC Radio Cumbria:

"It was an important result, we bounced back tonight and probably deserved the result.

"Lee Miller and Rory Loy were outstanding, a real handful.

"We haven't had it so much as a pair, Rory was running the channels, putting people on the backfoot, clever with the ball, Lee was winning the physical battles.

"We believe in the players, on our day we can play good football and we've got to play effective football."
