Raith Rovers claimed a narrow opening-day win over First Division rivals Falkirk at Stark's Park.

Iain Williamson had an effort saved by Bairns goalkeeper Michael McGovern before Joe Hamill swept home the opener on the stroke of half-time.

McGovern denied John Baird as the home side pressed for a second.

The visitors finished with 10 men after Darren Dods was dismissed for picking up two bookings, both resulting from fouls on Baird.
