Jordan Slew and Richard Cresswell scored second-half goals as Sheffield United made it two League One wins from two with victory over Brentford.

In Danny Wilson's first home game in charge, his side almost trailed but Gary Alexander headed Myles Weston's curling cross narrowly over the bar.

The Blades led when Cresswell teed up 18-year-old Slew, who scored with a close-range deflected shot.

Cresswell tapped home Matthew Lowton's low cross to seal the win.

Sheffield United manager Danny Wilson tells BBC Radio Sheffield:

"Everybody in the country wants to win the first home game, it gives everyone a feel-good factor and that's important.

"Today was perfect really, clean sheet, two goals and everyone has gone home happy.

"We're not reaching the heights yet that we want to do, but if we can get results in the transitional periods then that's a big bonus."

Brentford boss Uwe Rosler told BBC London 94.9:

"I was not happy with our movement. I think we lost too many balls up front and were not competing in the right areas.

"We were still in the game in the first half. We could have had something more from the game but the first goal killed us off.

"We started slower than I expected and we didn't pass the ball. It was the first time a lot of my players played in a stadium this big and I think we froze a little bit."
