Derby County have signed Hull City defender-midfielder Kevin Kilbane on a six-month loan deal.

The 34-year-old, who has 110 caps for the Republic of Ireland, ended last season on loan at Huddersfield.

Rams boss Nigel Clough told the club website:  "Kevin brings a wealth of experience and the ability to play in a variety of positions.

"He's an international player. It is exciting for us to attract another player of that ilk to Derby."

Kilbane is only four games away from levelling Billy Wright's world record of playing in 70 consecutive competitive international games

Clough added: "We believe he will be a welcome addition to our squad and given the type of character and player he is, we have no doubt he will do a good job for us."

The former Preston, West Brom, Sunderland, Everton and Wigan man made 31 appearances for the Terriers last season as they lost in the League One play-off final.

Kilbane becomes the Rams' ninth summer signing.
