Port Vale ended their tour of North America with four wins out of four after completing a comfortable 5-0 victory over Victoria Highlanders.

Defender Clayton McDonald netted his first goal for the League Two club.

Doug Loft and Rob Taylor added Vale's second and third, before Louis Dodds and Sean Rigg rounded off the scoring.

Vale return to the UK on Saturday and will play friendly matches against Halifax and Walsall before opening the League Two season at home to Crawley.

Micky Adams' side also defeated North Sound SeaWolves, Tacoma Tide and Kitsap Pumas on their tour and winger Lewis Haldane has declared the trip a real success.

"It has been a long 10 days and a lot of hard work," Haldane told the club's official website.

"The teams we have played have been tough. They all kept the ball well and were all big and strong, so it has been a good test.

"We have won every game and that was our target - to get a winning mentality before we start the season."
