Barrow sign former Hamilton utility man Gavin Skelton
Skelton was a Scottish Cup finalist with Gretna in May 2006
Barrow have signed utility man Gavin Skelton following his release by relegated Scottish Premier League side Hamilton at the end of last season.
The former Carlisle United and Gretna player, 30, can play anywhere on the left and has agreed a one-year deal with the Holker Street club.
"I'm looking forward to getting going," Skelton told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"I want to get back to enjoying football and I've got a good feeling about this."
Skelton, who was a Scottish Cup finalist with Gretna and played in the Uefa Cup in 2006, said joint bosses Dave Bayliss and Darren Sheridan were instrumental in selling Barrow as a potential destination.
"It's nice to feel wanted," Skelton added.
"I've been speaking to a couple of clubs and they said we're waiting on this, but if clubs do want you then they'll do everything in their power.
"The management at Barrow were keen to get me and I'm hoping to repay their faith and do well."
Carlisle-born Skelton also lists Workington and Kilmarnock among his former clubs and has made more than 300 league appearances during a 14-year-career.
