New Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay has appointed three former Watford colleagues to his backroom staff.

The Bluebirds have agreed a compensation package with the Hornets for David Kerslake, Richard Collinge and Joe McBride.

Kerslake will be assistant manager at Cardiff City Stadium with Collinge the club's new head of performance.

Former Vicarage Road youth team coach McBride is set to complete terms on Friday to become first team coach.

Both Kerslake, a former QPR and Tottenham defender, and ex-Everton winger McBride joined Watford during Mackay's time as manager at Vicarage Road.

The trio replace Terry Burton, Paul Wilkinson and Alex Armstrong who were were placed on gardening leave earlier in the week.

Assistant boss Burton, first-team coach Wilkinson and fitness coach Armstrong are free to seek positions with other clubs.

"We are sure all Cardiff City supporters will join us in thanking them for their hard work and commitment over the past few years," Cardiff said in a statement.
