Carlo Ancelotti waits to hear about future at Chelsea

Carlo Ancelotti is hopeful of seeing out the final year of his contract as Chelsea coach but has conceded the decision is out of his hands.

Ancelotti guided the Blues to a Premier League and FA Cup double last year.

However, the Italian is set to end this campaign trophyless following Sunday's 2-1 league defeat at Manchester United.

"I have another year on my contract and I would like to stay but it is the decision of the club," he said. "We have two more games, we wait and see."

Chelsea went to Old Trafford needing to win to keep alive any realistic hopes of retaining the title.

However, Javier Hernandez struck for United after only 36 seconds and their captain Nemanja Vidic headed a second midway through the first half to set up a victory that virtually assured a record 19th top-flight title.

I am honest to say that Chelsea didn't do its best this season

Mathematically Chelsea could still finish top but they must win their final two games, at home to Newcastle next week and away at Everton on 22 May, while hoping United lose theirs, at relegation-threatened Blackburn and then at home to third-from-bottom Blackpool on the last day of the season.

However, Ancelotti is already focusing on where his future lies beyond the end of this season.

"The club will take a decision at the end of the season, we will arrange a meeting after the end of the season," he said.

"Italy is my country and one day I will come back to Italy as I love my country but in the last two years I have found a fantastic atmosphere in football, a fantastic country, and I respect the people.

"There is no violence in the stadium, the stadiums are full and I would like to stay here for these reasons."

Ancelotti went on to admit that Chelsea had fallen short this season but claimed there was no need for wholesale changes at Stamford Bridge.

"I don't know what the owner [Roman Abramovich] thinks about the season but in my opinion we could have done better," Ancelotti stated.

"I am honest to say that Chelsea didn't do its best this season but sometimes that can happen.

"Last season we had a fantastic season, this year it was a little bit different.

"We bought [David] Luiz, Ramires and Fernando Torres who are all fantastic players and this was enough for the future.

"I don't think this team needs to have a lot of movement and now is not the right time."
